Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Morning from kiwi land mascoteers
I’ve been away from Spain about 6 weeks now and just getting a bit cabin crazy … don’t get me wrong I’m living being here with my family but I live alone in Spain for a reason , I thrive pretty well on my own when I can choose who and when in general I can socialise with . I guess it comes from 18 years divorced and learning to be comfortable in my own skin . Ha ha my 11 year old grands son observed … grandad do you know you chat to yourself in third person !!! Yep I said ? any ways I’ve rented a small Britz camper van and I’m off to see some volcanoes and vineyards … I may even pop into Hobbiton … I leave on 15 august … I’ll GOT blog it
Fuerto Abratzos mis Amigos
@Sassy Colombian i don’t think I got that bit right ha ga
You almost got it ?

Fuerte abrazos mis amigos. Sending a strong hug your way too. Have fun driving the camper van and exploring the volcanoes and vineyards. Sounds like my kind of trip. Xxx

Good morning everybody. Feeling slightly delicate this morning so binned off the 8am gym session! What a fun day I had yesterday. Harry Potter golf, a cocktail making masterclass and a ghost bus tour of York (which was utterly bonkers but also very informative). All of this interspersed with more booze and food. I'll post some pictures later. Caught up on the match this morning - seems like we did OK in spite of the loss. However, what did we do to the footballing gods to deserve so mcu bad luck. Just read on the BBC website that Godfrey is out for months with a leg fracture and Mina could be out for a while as well.
Also catching up on all your posts. Not a fan of kidneys at all. Or liver for that matter. Not nice. Sassy- you've had an eventful time. I'm so glad you are being recognised for your work, but words don't put food on the table! (Sorry for being so cynical!) My boss recently nominated me for a Reward and Recognition payment. To be honest I don't agree with the scheme at all - I would much rather they used that money to give everybody a consolidated pay rise. He nominated me because of my high productivity, I regularly do twice as much work as the rest of the team. One of my team mates also got nominated. I hope you don't think I'm bigging myself up but he and I do about 50% of the work in the team of 11 people. Anyway the nomination got knocked back because we are "just doing our job". I want to say I will "just do my job" from now on and once I've hit the required target I'll stop - but I would die of boredom.

Loving Cal's idea of packing Fred. Fortunately Mr F travels very light so when we fly I usually get one and a half suitcases to pack all my stuff in. You have no idea of the stress I went through when we went hand luggage only for 5 days in Majorca! i was watching You Tube videos on how to pack. And tiny toiletries? Just no!

PhilM I hope you had a good day with your son in spite of the result. How old is he?

have a lovely Sunday all x
Ange, sounds like your hen party was an entertaining success, hopefully the bride to be also had a joyous time. Look forward to seeing your pics!

Ha, I was actually going to post the same thing about my job but decided not to be cynical ? Unfortunately the reality is that my bosses or college administrators have little to do with salaries or raises. Those are determined by our state legislature (us being a public community college, meaning government funded) and our state legislature is currently run by a majority of Republicans who are against paying a decent wage to the public servants of our state, it has always been like that in North Carolina. If I want to make good money in this state, I would really need to be working in the private sector, but that’s not my passion thus the enticement of a larger salary has never been enough motivation for me to switch over. If our health insurance wasn’t as expensive I’ll be having a lot more money, that’s really one of the main issues. But at least I don’t have to wait weeks to see a doctor or specialist, as it has happened to @Terrarian and Sofia is seeing a mental health therapist weekly at no additional cost to us. I’ve been very grateful for it because as she is approaching teenager years it is important for her to be able to communicate her feelings and learn how to deal with her frustrations. With the insurance we had before we had to pay $40 out of pocket cost each visit so it has saved us so monthly money. Anyway, all this to say that I wish I were getting paid more as I deserve it, but I’m really loving what Im doing and thankfully our family doesn’t have lots of debts so for now we make enough to pay for our bills, save a little and play a little ?

Hello friends. Having a lazy morning but really need to get my engines going as we need to finish packing for Sofia camp trip and then we have to drop her off at camp which is one hour and fifteen minutes from Asheville.

Even though we lost, I was satisfied with yesterday’s performance by Everton. The injuries were unfortunate, we really need to get in the good side of the wellness’s goddesses because we really need their help this season. But like many of you, I saw lots of positives in yesterday’s game, I really think Frank is going to take us towards a path of success but we do need someone to be able to finish the chances that our players our forward and right now that DCL is out and without Richy we really don’t have a footballer to do that job and we really need someone badly. But it was energizing seeing our new players perform and do well. I agree that Iwobi did really well, work hard and it is becoming a better player with every game. I look forward to next weekend’s match and our first win of the season.

The reason meats like that were cured in the first place was to extend their shelf life, so to speak. Once the seal of the sausage is cut, then the interior will begin to succomb to nature, but way slower than a fresh cut.

Its why I always but a whole chorizo sausage, with clips at both ends, not those pots of cubed stuff.
Just be careful going round cutting the seals of your sausages you might do a Bobbit

Oh Sassy I agree. Having worked in the public sector for 30+ years it never changes. Successive Governments just bash the public sector with underfunding and pay constraints.

My morning went like this, got up. felt rough, went back to bed having decided not to go to the gym. Got up again, felt bad for not going to the gym so went swimming instead. We (I talked Charlotte into coming) went to the leisure centre in Durham (I haven't got a handy beach to do sea swimming like Fred has) and swam for an hour. Very refreshing, cleared my head but I'm ready for bed now! Swimming is one activity I'm reasonably good at.

I know you can relate to my predicament, Ange. Working in the public service sector, with all the underfunding and pay constraints, only happens because of our devotion to public service is above our desire to get pay lots more.

When I say I go in the sea for a swim, I usually just stand there and move my hands around a bit. May do a bit of breast stroke/doggy paddle, but I'm not exactly swimming the channel Anj
