Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

It is the tips of new branch growth and it is soaked in Vodka for a few weeks . It tastes like limoncello .
Little known fact (Unless I've already posted it in here). I always have a shot of chilled limoncello after a BBQ. An old Italian client and friend of mine always said it helped with the digestion whenever you've had a protein rich meal. Who am I to argue with him. ;)

I guess the events of the last 12 months have changed my outlook and I'm living my life in a kind of damage limitation fashion. I focus on things that make me feel better and avoid things that have the opposite effect.

So when Everton are doing badly I simply avoid reading about or watching them. That may be me burying my head, I don't know. Having said that, there's very little that makes me smile more than Everton doing well, so let's hope for a better season than the last one and that the first couple of pre season games are just blowing the cobwebs away and the effects of Frank trying to implement a new playing system.

What I refuse to do is beat myself up over things that haven't happened yet, and possibly never will. There's just no point. I also think that some people on this forum need to add a bit more perspective to an under performing Everton. I would take Messy still posting in this thread on the Toffees navigating next season in the Championship. In a heartbeat.
Agreed, I admire the energy of people who can get worked up over some friendlies. Especially after last season as @coollino said. Might as well save up the fume till autumn/winter. Or who knows we might have some players in before the window shuts and look a better side

Did an Italian exchange trip during my degree and stayed for 2 weeks with an Italian family. Every night there was a limoncello after dinner. Lovely stuff

At my age I don't get worked up but I care and that is why .I see your side as well ,the difference is you have more time than I to see the improvement :(

First time I've said this as I rarely post in the Everton forum these days, but we are where we are financially due to a succession of bad footballing decisions at board level over a number of years. The last 12 months will have brought some respite to our accounts and another year will hopefully put us back on track. So we have another season of clever dealings in the transfer market that will hopefully enable us to negotiate another season of not getting relegated. But our business will be done at the very end of the window when we will be more able to pick up some loans and cut price deals. It's just the way it is and all the moaning and cry-arsing in the world is not going to change that.

I believe we have a decent manager with the right values who will want to play football that our fans will want to see. He needs to change some of the personnel, and it will also take time for some of the existing players to come to terms with the way he wants to play. We will also need better luck with injuries, and also with refereeing decisions which weighed heavily against us last season at important times. But I'm hopeful, rather than confident, that we will do OK next season. By that I mean mid table. We'll have a better idea in approx 6 weeks when the window closes.

As if. :)

The flip side of that Blue is that you have been fortunate to have seen some very special moments as a Blue fan. More than me even as I don't really remember the 60s. Most of our young fans haven't witnessed any success at all. My life will never be the same again but I have so many wonderful memories to cherish, and many of those involved Everton. ;)

Yes ,yes and yes .
I have been fortunate to see a lot of our sucess as a club and for that I am grateful .There are two sides in a way "You cannot miss what you have never had " and then "Once you have tasted success ". I do feel for the lads especially those who travel away week after week ,when I did it we were doing well a lot of the time and never as bad as this for very long .I take my hat off to those supporters ,true supporters ,no couch to be seen .

I do the exact same thing mate. At first, (cos there isnt a book about this stuff), I decided to have something to look forward to each day, usually a TV programme or a particular tea to cook. Now, like you, if I want to do sommet, I do. If I dont, I dont.

It feels selfish at times, but I shrug, and couldnt care less if it is. Its my grief, its my life that has changed, and its my health, not some well intentioned persons.
