Great pics Anj, evoking some fond memories. Used to live around the corner from Sefton Park and frequently went for walks down there. Did you get down to the fairy glen by the Queens Drive entrance to the park, not far from the glasshouse. If not, well worth another visit.View attachment 173218View attachment 173220View attachment 173223

I thought about Harry when I was in the Bridewell enjoying a beer on my own when I was up in Liverpool last week. I was surprised to see that an old friend (and great Blue) was working there. I know him from when he worked at Rigby's on Dale Street, which was my regular haunt back in my working days, and I hadn't seen him for probably over 5 years. To his credit he knew me instantly and remembered my name, which is no mean feat for a barman who must see thousands of different faces each year. We were getting along great catching up on all things Everton, until he asked about Cal. Well he wasn't to know was he.Morning Fred , after a night at the rugby I’ve just finished off a couple of hours in the gym in preparation of a large brekkie and more than a few pints back in the loving arms of the Old Lady that is Goodison.
Well I’m glad you had a good day , Dale street has been a great road for a beer for years , even up to tithebarn , and traditionally very blue . They’ve all found it pretty hard the last couple of years with WFH so I’m sure they were glad of your patronage. the excelsior is a cracking boozer and very much solid blue , the owner in particular, it’ll be bouncing this afternoon as there is memorial drink on for a bit of a old school Evertonian so hopefully three points will help that day along . Side street I’m thinking if it was halfway up it’ll be the rose & crown if it was passed the saddle it’ll either be the hole in the wall or the Denbigh Castle . Denbigh is an other big Everton boozer with some good Everton memorabilia on the walls , if you didn’t pop in give it a visit . Rigbys was always on everyone’s list and used to be a big meeting place , lots of history in that building that’s for sure .
It’s mad how lots of people from other places don’t get the having a wander , lots of people like to plonk themselves down once they find a good pub but Scousers in particular love a stroll. I’ve said before I think it comes from the city centre being so small .
@larbert toffee have a brilliant day today mate I can only hope an early goal electrifies the place and shows him what a real Goodison can be like . Fingers crossed its Something he’ll never forget , hopefully got a good reason .

That's good news . Thanks for letting me know.Harry was lurking yesterday @Barnfred 55
Didn't quite walk that far. We used to have picnics at that very spot when we were kids. Happy memories.Great pics Anj, evoking some fond memories. Another beautiful day down here in a very warm and sunny Cornwall. There's nowhere quite like it when it's like this.
My neighbours son is coming over for a BBQ this afternoon. I bought some sausages from the local yesterday, but thought I had some burgers in the freezer, but must have eaten them and forgotten. I haven't done a proper shop since I've been back so my fridge is empty apart from beers and ciders. I hope Peter likes sausages lol. I have plenty of beers so I'll just get him pissed and send him home with a smile on his face.
Yes you're quite right Roydo. I recall now that Jazzy was shocked by my protein intake. lolDidnt you have the burgers the other week? You had to eat all of them cos they were frozen together!
Ha ha. I've just realised that I'm living my life on the internet. It's like the GOT version of the Truman Show lolDidnt you have the burgers the other week? You had to eat all of them cos they were frozen together!
Just tell him you had a Je suis, Fred moment regarding the burgers, sure he’ll understand lolYes you're quite right Roydo. I recall now that Jazzy was shocked by my protein intake. lol
Anyway, I've messaged Peter and he's going to bring across some chicken breast that I'll probably marinade and put on skewers. It's supposed to be a thank you for him picking me up at the airport and he's having to bring his own food. lol

If you do become a regular poster in here, I feel we should warn you that anybody with a long or complicated username usually has it shortened. So henceforth you will be known as H. That shouldn't cause any complications except for G, who is also sometimes referred to as H due to her Viking heritage. If that makes sense.![]()
