Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Dad safely home from hospital. I picked him up at about 5pm. We watched the FA Cup final and shouted at the TV. We agreed that we both dislike Klopp immensely. He ate all his tea - I don't think he has been eating much in hospital and now he's gone to bed. Strange how roles subtly reverse. He looked after us when we were children and now we are are doing the same for him. Circle of life I guess.
Agree about the caring roles changing. I often used to reflect on this when bathing my Mum, washing her hair etc. thinking of all the times she had done this for me, my brothers and her own brothers and sisters. She never really came to terms with it no matter how many times I told her that she had cared for us and now it was our turn to care for her. On a completely different note I agree about Klopp, much as I hate physical violence the sight of him just makes me want to punch him in the face.

Morning all, cloudy here after a little overnight rain. My knees are now feeling the effects of standing so long yesterday evening- note to self next time take a chair. I could have sat on the grass but if I had I wasn’t sure I’d be able to get up again and wasn’t prepared to risk it.lol Bit of a dilemma regarding the match. I avoided the last one as I had missed the previous two which we won, but we didn’t win at Watford so does that mean I can watch today, then again we didn’t lose either, so perhaps I should give it a miss again. If you can follow that answers on a postcard please. Have a lovely day everyone.

You may as well watch it G. It's me missing the game that is bringing us the good luck so your's was just incidental. lol . Plus i don't have Sky Sports so can't watch it anyway

And I thought that it was down to me but then again it could be our combined influence lol. I don’t have Sky either, I wouldn’t give them my money, I use daughter’s Sky Go app instead, does that make me a hypocrite.o_O

Good morning all. I'm going to watch the match later. Hopefully things will go our way in the earlier games and we can all relax a bit! Dad news: he's doing my head in, in the nicest possible way. He got the hoover out this morning. I told him to leave it, I can do it for him. Then he insisted on putting washing in. He will not rest up. Fortunately my twin nephews have just arrived so he is chatting to them. He also let slip last night that his discharge from hospital showed that he had pneumonia. Even more reason to take it easy! Chicken chips and salad for our tea tonight.

Beautiful morning down here. Despite a ridiculous hangover (how's your head Sass?) I donned shorts and finished off what I started yesterday in the garden. The forecast has been for rain the last couple of nights so I've held off on watering the plants for a few days. Needless to say the torrential thunderstorms we were promised never materialised, So I've given the plants a good old watering this morning. You can tell the soil is bone dry when the water takes an age to seep in. Anyway they all look nice and healthy so no harm done. I have a couple of potted geraniums that have wintered well. They look really strong and shrubby and have started to flower again, so I've bunged them out by the front door.Quite a few of last years pots have flowered again but, unless I'm mistaken Jazzy, you don't see that often with geraniums.

Anyway now I've stopped working I'm beginning to feel rough again, so I'm going to have a quiet afternoon, and definitely no booze today. Ham salad sandwich for lunch on nice seeded brown malt loaf. Need to be good with ny food today as I was a naughty boy last night. @Toast enticed me into putting a couple of Greggs sausage rolls in the oven so I had a midnight snack which is definitely against my rules. They were nice though and hit the spot after a night of fun in the Eurovision thread.

Happy Sunday all and COYB

Oh hope you feel better soon. What's up with the vac? Take care x
Hi gang, just going to read some now, had a busy time trying to get my house decorated before the new floors come, I got cancelled twice for my new bathroom floor last week, guys on the sick ffs so I took the opportunity to not care and got paint everywhere, it's great, don't have to worry about getting paint on the floors.

Painted the hallway and bathroom, ran out of paint now, still not finished, trying to brighten the bathroom up, it's a bit dark n dingy with no natural light. I am going to get brilliant white and some mirrors. Need a new colour for hallway but it's fullt done with an undercoat now.

The vac just doesn't have good enough suction however for what I need it for Ang it is ok, I just wanted to be able to do skirtings etc without farting around, my upright still works for doing a main vac.

Hope you're all good and hope we are almost safe.

Check that the air filter is clear and that the dust bag is not full. Otherwise get a new vac!!

I only bought it last week lol It's fine, I got what i paid for, cheap crap lol.

Oh got a face to face Dr appointment tomorrow avo. I am a bit worried cause they keep asking me what i expect from them today, I don't know ffs that's why I am ringing you. Also ridiculous all you have to do to get a face to face, GPs on easy street these days and standard of care is nowhere near what it used to be.

Happy match day Blues!

Had a great date with the hubby but went to bed at 3 am so it would have been nice if my internal alarm had let me sleep until 8:30 am, I had my phone alarm set up for it so I wouldn’t miss the game, but nah I didn’t have to make use of it because my body is used to waking up early so I was up before 7 and here I am. Thankfully I’ve no hangover today (thanks for checking Fred) and feeling relatively great even after the lack of sleep and all the dancing.

Hoping for a big win today for Everton, and for Clare too (enjoy the game @blue to the bone). @anjelikaferrett seems like your dad is to well adapted to doing his own household work, but like you said if he has pneumonia he should try to rest. @Gwladysover I would love for you to be a hypocrite today ;) and join us for the match, you deserve watching Everton plays after a few games absences. @blue1948 lovely pic of the bird, but I agree that phone cameras don’t do justice to many subjects, although that bird was clearly a beautiful one. @Barnfred 55 the exactly thing happened to us yesterday afternoon regarding rain, it has been predicted by the meteorologists (the only people that can be wrong at their job a lot of time and still have employment lol) that we were going to have a big storm in the afternoon. We waited and waited for it to materialize but it never happened so we ended up watering our plants and seeds too. But I’m going to purchase today a sprinkler and a timer so this year’s crops do better for me, carrots and beets being root vegetables need a good amount of water and at times I don’t give them as much as they need so I’m changing my water strategy this summer to see if achieve better results. @Bluerover good advise and it is nice to seeing you too. @Terrarian it seems like you been having a very productive week with all the painting you been doing, I agree it’s nice not having to worry about the floors, so while it is annoying that your floors got postponed again, at least you made the delay worth it.

Have a great day friends, we know Everton can make it that way if they achieve a win today. Arriba los Caramelos!

Keep up BL, it IS a new vac lol

As a nipper my Mam had the old upright Hoover - I remember it being very efficient although useless in corners. It had a rubber belt behind a plate at the fron and sometimes it would slip, but very easy to put back.

Today vacs look very fancy but last jig time. Like most other appliances, designed for planned redundancy as it makes it cheaper to buy another than to try and get them repaired.

Thankfully we have just two rooms with a carpet - the rest have timber floors, so a quick sweep and a mopping works a treat.

Mind you we have three dogs, including two GSDs - when they moult it is like it has snowed. They shed their white inner down not their outer Black and Tan coats.

Mrs BR is constantly sweeping up their hairs at this time of the year

The Doctor asking what you expect from them is NOT a negative surely T.
That is your opportunity to express your frustrations and offer your opinions of treatment so far. Make sure you take the opportuniity. ;)
