I like that though, draws are no good, go all out for the win, dont hang for a draw, not that we are, were just either rubbish or good, with no middle ground
Yes, but winning games by the odd goal OR capitulating to a big loss is not the way forward.

If we'd have been senisible in a few games under Lampard and played more conservatively at key points in games we'd have picked up 2 or 3 points up, for sure.

A draw against Leicester - as long as West Ham beat Burnley - is good news.

Today I`m hoping Brentford are still on a high after beating Chelsea away and they go and dispatch Watford at Vicarage Road. Norwich have to go to Man Utd, Utd are a mess but I cant see Norwich winning there. Same with managerless Burnley who go to a buoyant West Ham, hopefully West Hams bubble doesnt burst and they beat Burnley.

Then our fixture at home to Leicester under the lights at Goodison on Wednesday night, crowd will be vocal and bang up for it. The players have had 10 days rest and will hopefully be confident after the Utd game whilst Leicester this will be their 3rd game in 10 days including having to travel to and from Holland in 2 of them 10 days.

Hopefully we can take advantage of that schedule and get 3 points out of them...... If we do the table looks like this, Probably only 1 more win away from safety, 2 if one of them teams get on a run.

So if we draw to Leicester but finish 17th at the end of the season we get relegated ?

No, we don’t. Lampard has spoken out against exactly this kind of logic, putting false “must win” status on individual games.

Burnley was presented as a “must not lose” because we were playing United in the next game. Look how that turned out.
Not really on that last part.

Burnley was presented as a 'must not lose' because it stopped them gaining any ground on us and mentally that was a big plus to have.

It was a huge defeat that shouldn't have happened because the performance was good enough to warrant a win.

But we need to be targeting victory in the home games. We have 4 of them left and we need 10 points to guarantee safety IMO and based on what we've seen for, you know, all season, I don't back us getting a point away. It'd be great if we did, but it just doesn't seem likely atm, so we need 3 wins and a draw from the 4 home games.

A draw against Burnley the other day would have been just fine.

But we still need three wins at least so we have to win the home games.

Stopping the rot with a point or two on the road would be fantastic.

Obviously all wins are better but little unbeaten streaks boost confidence. 1 win, 3 defeats, 1 win, 2 defeats etc. really deflates the club and the fans.

A draw is not the end of the world in that situation no, but we still need three wins from somewhere and Leicester, Brentford and Palace at home are our best chances for that.

Yep if we could have got one or two of them on the road in recent weeks we'd all be more confident, but we didn't.

In the last two away games, that was entirely down to individual errors, too. Nothing tactical, the set-ups were good, it was crap players making crap mistakes and it cost us.

No, we’re not out of it but you have to admit it is one hell of a present!

I’m no fan of Dyche-ball, but he was seemingly unflushable. There’s no question that it will give our lads a psychological boost.

Edit: unless they somehow get big Sam for the last few games.
I think if the Burnley lads weren't expecting it I think it could really suck the life out of them too. Let's hope west ham really take them to the cleaners and cement some negativity there.

That’s fair, but there were plenty on here citing our game against United as being a likely defeat, so we couldn’t afford to lose to in a row.

As others have pointed out, if results go our way, rather like last weekend, then we might only need 2 more wins to stay up. Personally think 7 points should be enough, but 9 more definitely sees us safe.

Brentford and West Ham wins before we play Leicester would be fantastic, and for what it’s worth I think we’ll beat them. If all that goes to plan I’ll likely breathe easy for the first time in months.

I personally think the Leicester game is vital to get a win. The Liverpool game looks a bit hopeless and despite our recent good record against Chelsea. With them out of Europe and spurs not too far behind them I'm expecting a very tough game there. In fact looking at the next 3 fixtures for both us and Burnley. If we fail to beat Leicester it's not unreasonable to think Burnley could overtake us.

I actually hadn't looked at the fixtures for a while but looking now it seems we are still well in a battle here and far from safe.

I think a result away from home is coming. A point or two away from home plus a couple of wins at home may just do it.

Our best hope is Watford. Their home form is woeful (as bad as our away form) and they will likely be down at that point and well on the beach. Wouldn't be surprised if Hodgson has gone by that point. Whether can get a surprise result on top of that will be interesting. If we can get safe, playing without pressure, you wouldn't rule it out.

Not being able to dig in and get draws has been the hallmark of our season and it's got us into this mess.

If we end up 5 points ahead of Burnley after each playing 31 games how can that be seen as anything other than job done for that round of matches?

In fact, draws all the way to the end of the season will get us safe.
Away from home yes, totally agree.

But home games, whether under Fat Arse or Frank are must win. The gap needs to be as wide as possible entering into a very dubious run of games
