I think this is true really. Tom had to take some responsibility, but honestly it's no real surprise that a 17/18 year old who looked like he had the world at his feet has not kicked in at a club who went from have 3 managers in 17 years to having 6 managers, with vastly different styles in the 6 years where he needed to kick on.
I actually think Lampard may be a great manager for him, and will coach him on tbe training ground, but I also know hes got a bad injury and may well already be earmarked for the door.
It underlines for me the need for stability with managers. Lampard is half way there in that he looks like he wants the job long term.
