They're entering one in the Tour de France on a tricycle.

Nothing against Davies as a person, lovely lad who does a lot of good work in the community, just not at footballing level we need to progress.

I mean, he's regressed as a player and I've no idea how. The first half dozen matches he was really good for us, since then he's gone downhill somehow.

Spot on he did look OK just think he was put in the deep end as a kid alot for a young lad. I do think he lacks a bit of pace and can be a bit too nice .maybe just give the lad a break and see how itpans out imo

I think this is true really. Tom had to take some responsibility, but honestly it's no real surprise that a 17/18 year old who looked like he had the world at his feet has not kicked in at a club who went from have 3 managers in 17 years to having 6 managers, with vastly different styles in the 6 years where he needed to kick on.

I actually think Lampard may be a great manager for him, and will coach him on tbe training ground, but I also know hes got a bad injury and may well already be earmarked for the door.

It underlines for me the need for stability with managers. Lampard is half way there in that he looks like he wants the job long term.

If he improves under Lampard the way Gomes did yesterday I'd be happy with that.

If Lampard doesn't rate him then I doubt finding a buyer would be too tough. A once heralded young English prospect who is still not in his peak years and doesn't carry the burden of a huge contract will definitely appeal to some clubs.

Wouldn’t say Gomes has improved under Lampard, he’s only been here a week.

Gomes aswalys does this, has a decent game and people start getting hope again then he’s absolute pony for weeks. Rinse and repeat.

Slightly tongue in cheek but I didn't put that across too well.

A better way of putting it that certain ways of playing suit players and other's don't. The way we played yesterday gave Gomes a lot of options on the ball and the fact we looked interested in taking the game to the opposition took the pressure off with players knowing that one mistake doesn't doom us to a 0-1 defeat. Unlike certain other managers who have come in and made it abundantly clear that they don't trust the majority of players to venture forward and the best they can hope for is a 0-0 or 1-0.

In the longer term if Lampard's methods suit Davies then we'll hopefully see some of that potential realised.

Yeah mate fair enough, I agree with that.
 
I would suggest he may well improve under Lampard when he comes back. For all the criticism Davies best attribute is passing and that will work under Frank. He is not the quickest or strongest but then nor was Frank himself. I would hold on to him and see how he does in preseason next year, providing we are still in the league :-(
