That’s pretty much the team I was hoping to see start. Hopefully we manage to put a few passes together, don’t give away stupid goals and provide a threat to Spurs. I can’t believe i’m happy to see Delph start, but he looked the most composed midfielder we have, and hopefully we can keep the ball a lot better with this side. We’ll see soon enough. COYB

If Delph is his usual self, he'll look promising 1-2 games, then revert to laziness and trying the Billy Big B*llocks act, then get injured for six months.

They play in midfield.

Personally I'd have gone Davies. Because he is fine if his sole job is to sit in front of the back four. Have him in the middle of a flat three, Delph left side to open the passing lanes and Allan right side to run about. Then you have Gordon/Townsend/Gray on the bench to have an actual threat to bring on.
Have you seen Davies in the Watford match? He was the catalyst for at least 2 of their goals. He is better in attack compared to his defence but he is not good enough at either at this level.

Can't really argue with that team given what Benitez has to select from.

However I'd be playing 4 /3/3.

I suspect we will lose regardless.

When you look at the strengths of the 2 benches it tells you everything you need to know about our prospects in this game and for the season.

Can't argue with that side given what's available to him.
Plenty of attacking potential to hit them with on the break.
Need the players to show up today. No half hearted or low confidence nonsense
I agree, the side I would have picked in a 4-2-3-1....

That is the best we got but that doesn`t make it good enough to win a Premier League game, I fear we are still losing this one and Delph get a new contract.

It's mad when you look at our bench. If that nine started 38 games in the Premier League alongside any two other average or even decent players, they'd go down with one of the lowest points total in Premier League history IMO. Whereas the Spurs bench and first team and basically interchangeable quality.

And that’s the question, how on earth did we get to this.
