Davies or Gbamin because they are actual midfielders.

It's the numbers that matter. Our manager is stuck using a 4-4-1-1 system that went out of vogue in 2009, weirdly when he did.

Doing that would have been playing for a 0-0 draw. Richarlison isn't a sole striker at the best of times - playing a 4-5-1 would have seen us barely get out of our own half.

I think Davies on for Gray/Townsend is the call around an hour in if we're somehow ahead, but starting with it wouldn't be wise IMO.

Either way, we're all but certainly getting drilled about three nil here today. I'd take a point now all day long.

Happy with that team, other than the centre back pairing...

That's two centre halves who are super low on confidence, playing together.

When they both played a few weeks ago they were dreadful.

Would have put Holgate in there but, hopefully they turn a new leaf today.

COYB!
Holgate was horrific might as well put Me in as Holgate, at least I'd have an excuse for not putting in a good performance.. I'm nearly 40, unfit and haven't played football in about 8 years, what's his excuse for being rubbish?

I suppose I'd like to see it as a proper 4-3-3. I just think Allan is better being able to go and hassle and press. Delph in there is fine - for today like given our options - but just feel we need numerical superiority in that part of the pitch. People scream and shout about heart and desire and attitude and yes, it's a problem, but our problem the other day was a non-existent midfield, just as it was against Watford, and our manager has kept the same system, again.

2 man CM, not sure about that TBH

4-4-2 Vs 3-4-3

I think I would rather try and out number them in the centre of the pitch and control the game from there....

You saw Gbamin last Monday, right?

I did. His first league start in two years, put in a midfield that had no protection in front of it and Allan running around everywhere like a mad man.

Gbamin was poor, yes, but he was hung out to dry by the manager because of the system he used.

He's tried to replace Doucoure with only one player in each game so far, when it clearly can't be done.

Looks like 4-2-3-1. Allan and Delph to hold. If one pushes up, the other stays back. Gordon to start left, Townsend right, Gray in a free role to overload wherever the attack is happening and Richarlison as the striker.

Good vibes for the game. If the defence stays solid and not make mistakes, Everton has a chance. Kane and Son will be motivated with Conte. Keeping Moura quiet will be key. He links their midfield to attack and is their outlet. Can see a 0-0 or 1-0 result. Whoever scores first win.
