All we're wanting is for our manager to use the best assets at his disposal.

That is not leaving a player of James' quality out when we can't even name nine subs.

The decision won't be justified if we win mate, because you should never go into a game without your first compliment of subs.

Likewise, James not playing probably won't be the reason if we lose either. But it's just a ridiculous decision.

Maybe we should wait and see how the next few games pan out. It’s unfortunate that we have some injuries, but to start berating the manager for us not bringing in many new players us wrong. It’s pretty clear that he has had to work under financial constraints now, after the profligate spending of our last few managers, all of whom achieved bugger all in terms of success here.

Not bringing James back is understandable. He’s a player that couldn’t be bothered to play last season when it got cold and wet. Too tired to even turn up for uncle Carlo.

So, surely Benitez needs to stick with the players who have been putting in a shift and trying to work hard. If I was one of those and was dropped in favour of a prima donna who didn’t want to be at this club anyway and who probably now only wants to play in order to showcase his talents to gain a move elsewhere, is going to hurt the spirit in the team.

James may well be the most gifted player to wear our shirt for many years, but an Evertonian he is not.
 
I guess Benitez must hope for at least a draw today, or, the club need to come out and say James is injured or ill. Anything less and Benitez is setting himself up for a fall and proving to be as arrogant a bell as I have always thought him to be.

Only 8 on the bench and the clubs most gifted player not in the squad. Ridiculous if James is fit.
