Well there was at least is it names we know about?
I still think its unrealistic to suggest that he couldnt have brought in an understudy at least. Fixated on Dumfries who clearly wasnt coming, while Patterson was very late in the window.

Even if his attempts failed, they should possibly be counted as a strike against him anyway. DoF's are there to buy and sell - its how they should be judged. If they dont bring in the players, the buck stops with them. We arent a League One outfit.

Brands did try, just think is Patterson or Maitland-niles had been landed you would be saying well done, but no you belly ache and do not think if perhaps Benitez had a say in this. Bearing in mind what I pointed out about young players and old players.

You mention going for a loan like we did for Sidibe but it depends on who is available, so who was avilable?

Dunno mate, across Europe's top 5 leagues I'd have guessed someone but it's not Fifa so I can't filter for "Loan listed".

I doubt Maitland-Niles was our contingency plan more so than it was he made it clear that he was unhappy and we looked to seize the opportunity. If we'd been courting him all summer and it fell through at the end then you'd have to say hard lines but just doesn't seem like that was the case.

I don't wanna be too critical mate, if this was the first window we'd needed a right-back you could probably just take it on the chin, but the fact remains we've needed cover at RB since like 2015 and realistically we've needed someone to challenge and/or replace Coleman since his injury in 2017. Brands has had 7 windows to address this and all we've managed is Sidibe on loan for a season.

Looking at that period, who were the managers from then to now, they could well have a big say in thw hole business adding to that there was the hope Kenny would develop and replace Coleman.

We need to deal with fact not mindless speculation and rumour mongering.

…this isn’t a binary choice of only two options from @Death.

Indeed, it’s possibly avoiding the issue to look at the man instead of the DoF post at Everton, Most have made up their minds Brands is useless in the transfer market but it’s an area I feel he’s not in control of.

Brands can be slagged all day but I fear he is not the problem here.

Thing is Eggs we will never quite know. Now is going to hold their hand up.

Jesus Christ, I get it. I forgot cheese on toast option. Right. I know it's a GOT staple. I fugd up.

Who, please list them.
Why wouldn't they keep lists we have a scouting network? We would even keep lists of players we are keeping an eye on but never actually end up buying. I appreciate the financial constraints and also take into account the issues at the club in terms of who is buying and selling and how the process works or doesn't. I don't totally blame him the chopping and changing of managers added to a bloated wage bill and a owner who interferes it's not an easy job and I am not convinced he has a huge say In our recruitment at times... But he is the consistent person in the process for the last four summer windows, to not purchase one right back of required quality whoever's fault that is, is a failure.
