Everton Summer transfers 2021

Sadly his overly generous backing of previous managers seems maybe to have caught up with us. Not too panicked yet, hoping we can pull a few decent signings out of the bag.

…and his choice of managers hasn’t helped him either.

...and buying players like tosun and Walcott on behalf of the manager.

He has been a disaster since taking over. I'd say the stadium is the only thing stopping the fans turning on him. Sadly, that will also be what stops us progressing for the next 5 years while it's built and paid for.

Me too, I loved Sheedy because he played for us and played for us, what a wand he had. The others though were walking into any team anywhere in the world and just fitting right in and improving it.

Ive just never seen a better defender than McGrath, people talk about Bekenbaur, before my time, McGrath was imperious at his peak, it was just natural and easy for him, he defo has to be my no 1, though it’s tough company. He had this radar, right place right time - alo the time, I’ve never seen in game intelligence like his, his reading of the game was impeccable. The ball was just drawn to him. Pace, presesecne, heading, tackling he had it all he was a master. A joy to watch. He made his partners in central defense better as well. He radiated confidence. Won a couple of trophies at Villa they had no right to, almost the league as well, they threw it away. Think he won footballer of the year that year, when defenders never won it. World class.

Mark Lawernson deserves a shout, he was a class defender scuppered by injuries though. Steve Highway to, though never showed as much as he could for Ireland. Whealan on his day but injuries as well scuppered him.

Duff and Robbie were good players perhaps just behind the above with Sheeds.

All opinions mind.

Then there is Kevin Moran who deserves a special mention for being a class half back for those raised on songs and stories bagging a couple of All Ireland’s. lol
Giants Stadium 1994. He was unbelievable

Is it? What is the average age of his last eight signings (Allan, James, Doucoure, Godfrey, King, Townsend, Gray and Begovic)? Godfrey sticks out like a saw thumb in that list.

There is nothing wrong with bringing in experienced players to patch up our squad but across nearly four completed summer windows now, Brands has not demonstrated a consistent pattern for bringing in senior players at all.

Given that the three youngsters he brought in for the u23s (Virginia, Nkounkou and Branthwaite) have all seen action for the first team, it does suggest he can spot talent in a young player but in first team terms he has not demonstrated a desire to target young players at all.
Allan, James were Ancelotti signings. Doucouré not a bad age when brought in. Begovic is just cheap cover.

I'd wager that Townsend was RB's recommendation. Just because he's been overruled does not negate my point about his remit. He had always said he wants to lower the average age of the squad. Godfrey, Gray, Nkounkou, Branthwaite, Iwobi etc all clearly fit that thinking.
