Very well publicised that Brands is looking to bring in younger players but also that James was an Ancelotti signing. Don't have to be ITK to acknowledge the obvious.

Quite possibly but it might not necessarily be the case as they are apparently skint and need to sell to balance the books. If Rom goes they may look to replace him. Strange to see their title winning team having to take a step back but still an attractive option for any player. Us, not so much.

Is it? What is the average age of his last eight signings (Allan, James, Doucoure, Godfrey, King, Townsend, Gray and Begovic)? Godfrey sticks out like a saw thumb in that list.

There is nothing wrong with bringing in experienced players to patch up our squad but across nearly four completed summer windows now, Brands has not demonstrated a consistent pattern for bringing in senior players at all.

Given that the three youngsters he brought in for the u23s (Virginia, Nkounkou and Branthwaite) have all seen action for the first team, it does suggest he can spot talent in a young player but in first team terms he has not demonstrated a desire to target young players at all.

Sadly his overly generous backing of previous managers seems maybe to have caught up with us. Not too panicked yet, hoping we can pull a few decent signings out of the bag.

Sorry but nothing winds me up more than this statement. 'Not premier league proven'. They're a professional footballer ffs. How many great premier league players in the past came from abroad? Loads. Especially with the Bundesliga, it has a lot of similarities with the premier league. If they're good enough, they'll do well.

Godfrey was definitely a Brands signing. Ancelotti admitted to not knowing much about him. Doucoure also one we wanted for a while. Allan and James deffo Carlo signings.

It runs through our entire ethos at the club, they are absolutely terrified of players/managers without premier league experience.

Drives me insane, so many good managers and players in the world, but we don't touch them because they haven't been on these shores before.

Its idiotic.

Digne, Mina, Yobo, Gomes, Kean, Bilyaletdinov, Arteta, Pienaar, Gravesen, Jelavic, just some of the names we’ve signed over the years that hadn’t previously played in the Premier League
