What are everybody's thoughts on Dele Alli as a gamble on a midfielder that certainly used to know how to score goals until Mourinho got hold of him? (Puts on tin hat)

He could have a similar impact here that Lingard has had at West Ham he’s definitely got the quality

For me he can only really play off the striker, he’s best years was when he was virtually holding hands with Kane. In the right system along side DCL it would probably be ok. But he’s not your typical number 10. Technically he’s quite average

There’s no way we or anyone was getting foden last summer be serious.

And again we are helping Chelsea out with a youngster. The teams that loan from the so called big 6 are your promoted teams or your struggling sides with no money. Ie Everton under Moyes and kenwright. And we were seen as punching above our weight. When we finished 7th little old Everton

It’s a win win for Chelsea. He does well and they take him back or set his fee at something ridiculous. He fails, he goes back abs they loan him the following season.

If we’re serious about challenging and trying to break into the top 4. You don’t loan an 18yr old from Chelsea. Ancelotti on 11mil a year and we give him a kid from Chelsea. What’s the point
If it was our only signing then maybe i could see where youre coming from, but we need 4 or 5 in.
I see him as an improvement to what we have in the middle of the park technically, would love to get him signed but if cant do ill happily take on loan to help us for the time he's here. I dont honestly care if us developing him might help chelsea the season after, i am more concerned about us improving for next season.
If we are after a mix of young hungry and older more experienced then an 18 year old with something to prove at relatively small outlay ticks off one of the midfield areas we need strengthened.
And hopefully Carlo brings in more to fill the other areas of concern.
Last kid on loan from Chelsea done us alright if i remember correctly?

...it’s a very good comparison with Weir, Andy. We emphasise Keane’s lack of pace & mobility and you rightly point out some players can overcome weaknesses with application and attitude.

Keane’s problem is he’s also mentally fragile. He’s capable at the top of his game but he’s weak at the other end of his spectrum. He can be easily bullied & becomes hesitant & uncertain. Mina is slow & immobile but he’s strong and has attitude, I’d much prefer him over a number of games.

it’s ok @Zatara saying we need to sell Keane but somebody has to want to buy him. Even if somebody does submit an unlikely bid, it has to meet our valuation & even then the player has to be prepared to give up a big bucks contract for whatever is on offer elsewhere.

I’m not surprised there are clubs linked to Mina. I suspect he’s the one most likely to leave.

but then Keane is less injury prone and less error prone in my eyes than Mina. Mina injured himself dancing in his own six yard box, for that I'm not that arsed about losing him. Not that'd be arsed about losing Keane either.

Arguments for either or both to be sold really. I'd keep one, godfrey starting CB, if we are going to sign a CB then get rid of Holgate too.

Keanes at peak value / Mina only 2 years left and injury prone.

Godfrey and Holgate for me with Branthwaite 4th choice and a new centre back signed.

If Mina wasnt injured so much then i think he'd be one of the best in the league.

How can someone so huge get so many injuries lol

Lukaku had played a full season in the prem the year before. And at that point, we still had kenwright owning the club so
Money was tight.

Moshiri isn’t paying Ancelotti 11mil and giving him an inexperienced kid from Chelsea. For a
Start ancelotti wouldn’t play him. He likes experience

Looking at Tottenham's outs over the last decade, my thoughts would be never, ever buy a player that Levy binned off. Do feel free to raid his wantaway players on the cheap if you're in the CL and they're not.

Mina is better IMO. And
Is better on the ball,
Keane can ping a few cracking long balls,
But he will give the ball away cheaply at times.

This is a different issue, but you look at the 10
Outfield players tonight. I’d say 6/7 aren’t great on the ball. The CB’s,
Coleman,
Doucoure is so poor on the ball. Allan is better but not brilliant. And then you have the front 2.
Who both give the ball away so easily at times.

we can’t control any game. And
Wolves who are pretty average, had 60% possession, that’s awful.

Dwight McNeil? Might not be the pacey winger we're after... but 21 years old, just under 100 prem games already. Tidy player, links well with a big man up front... set piece taker as well....

Shopping list should be winger, right back, and a progressive midfielder that can actually do something not useless in the final third. Then another winger or striker if we can. I still hate Pickford but so long as he keeps his new haircut it seems he’ll be ok.

I really like him, but we’re really sorely lacking someone who can dribble past someone and beat a man down the line. Basically we need a Deulofeu type but one that can run for more than 10 minutes.
