I wonder if we even bothered with a medical for him when we signed him.

Don't get me wrong, I'm firmly in the "keep James" camp, but it is infuriating that he's made of glass.

Tbf think his medical lasted about two days - that's no joke either.

We simply have to be better when he's not playing. We're still going to end up getting about 28/29 games in all comps out of him this season.

Unfortunately, he's missed some big games for us too but it is what it is. If we were even remotely able to actually string some moves together without him we might be alright.

We can't though, and that's why it's so frustrating. Now a fair chunk of that is on the players being crap (which is on the players and the recruitment). Another part of that is definitely on the manager/coaching because there's some things that even this rabble should be able to do but they don't look like they're given any idea of it.

That piece in the Athletic yesterday was damning. Basically, we're one of the slowest teams in the league - which we knew. We don't control possession, yet we don't go direct and we don't counter-attack with pace. We're basically a non-entity of a side. One big pile of beige.

The joke is they signed him, they knew about his physical liabilities with his time at RealMadrid and Bayern Munich, didn’t Carlo open his mouth or didn’t they ask his opinion on a very expensive signing? Oh sorry, he only came because of Carlo, he wouldn’t have gone to any other club, not that there was a big queue rushing to get hold of him, come on let’s be serious here.

The joke is we signed him? Think you deserve a red banner for that. @mods

I don't really know what you're getting at

The Tom Davies stat of being the slowest midfielder is a shocker. As is Iwobi being the anti-pacy, powerful winger tag some give him.

Carlo will know all this. Says in that article he sets us up based on our limitations as well as him saying we'll be looking for quality in the summer in the presser

It is not very difficult to understand. JR has a well-known injury history, has a reputation for not being very professional, and has a high salary. No top clubs were willing to take the risk. I think he has amazing skills, especially his spatial abilities, but we treat him like teenage girls treat Kardashian or Addison Rae. Football is a team sport, and is not about individuals.

If you want to play for the top clubs in the world, you must be in the best possible shape you can be in, and you must be prepared for running a lot, and many high-intensity sprints. JR is nowhere near any of this, and that's the truth. Everton have ambitions, and then we have to build a solid training culture.

Then we must first and foremost get players, who of course have quality, but who also can withstand a lot of training, and who have the mentality to do so. We can not pick up players who lack this drive, and who are more often with the physiotherapist, than on the training field.

Do you think Guerdiola had trusted JR against PSG, or Tuchel when Chelsea met Real Madrid?
