I think Dunc has been lucky here, I mean, I think we all know why the team are playing so well atm.

@maccavennie has got most of the squad living with him, mostly voluntarily, in his converted six berth caravan that his mum ‘won’ on bullseye after giving Jim Bowen and Tony Green handies behind bullys prize board.

They’re parked up just behind the old Lidl car park with a few of the other lads who are camping out in their cars. Hendo’s got a lovely setup with plenty of cushions and candles in his fiesta, it’s definitely lead to his recent scoring flurry. When we turned up at Bury last week we looked like a poundshop mad max convoy, it was glorious.

Macca has them out most days on the local golf courses foraging for berries and wayward golf balls which seem to be a popular commodity round here these days. I fully expect us to forgo our usual mid-season collapse with his new and ingenious training methods.

and although that caravan may be a forgotten memory you can’t argue with the results.

F.A. Cup First Round

=Bradford result.webp

It was the first match for new Bradford City manager Jason Puncheon who was confirmed yesterday. Duncan Ferguson fielded a strong team for the first round of this season's F.A. Cup competition. Ferguson stuck by Tyrone O'Neill and started him in attack. There were early signs of encouraging football when the ball was played wide to Jones by Wilson and he crossed for the head of O'Neill but it just glanced the top of the bar. Mick Wisdom took the corner on 14 minutes and Bytheway back peddled to win the header but he got enough contact to put the ball over the keeper and in! Great start for Fylde! The Coasters were playing well and were unlucky not to score more throughout the first half, Jordan Wilson struck the post from 20 yards out close to half-time. Morgan Feeney came close with the header when John Jones drifted in a beautiful ball from the free-kick just before the interval. Mick Wisdom was on a booking and was clearly hyped up for this, Hoppe played it to Stone and Wisdom clattered into the back of him just on half-time. The midfielder held his hands up and the referee showed him his second yellow card! Fylde down to ten men for the second half. Daniel Embid got warmed up and came on for Josh Ferguson. With 20 minutes to go, Phil Stone crossed to the near post from the free-kick and Sherif nodded it into the bottom corner to equalise for Bradford. Five minutes later Jones took the corner for Fylde and Henderson won the header in the six yard box but it was cleared off the line. What a chance! Seconds remained and Fylde were defending brilliantly, Feeney putting his body on the line and now Jones with the cross into the Bradford box to find Bytheway unmarked at the back post but he heads it wide! Both teams will meet in a replay in ten days time at Valley Parade.

EFL Trophy Group Stage

=Rochdale result.webp

It was the final match in the group and a must-win for Fylde if they were to progress to the second round. Duncan Ferguson had been criticised in the past for his squad rotation in this competition and today was no different. Vitor Oto'o mde his return from injury and Adrian Pirone started on the left. Declan Marshall also got a start. 16 minutes in and Wisdom floated in the corner to the far post, Tyrone O'Neil nodded the ball across for Oto'o who smashed it into the top corner but he was offside and the goal was chalked off. Mick Wisdom cleared the ball but only as far as Clifford who played it into the feet of Clarke and he slotted past Tom Hadler to make it 1-0. Fylde conceded easily on 34 minutes, Mason swung in the free-kick, Hughes beat the offside and headed over the keeper to make it 2-0. Tyrone O'Neill dropped deeper on 53 minutes to take the ball, he played it to Pirone and he launched a right footed shot from the edge of the box into the top corner! One back for The Coasters. If Fylde thought they had a chance of getting back into this one, Rochdale got their third from another set-piece, Mason once again with the assist and Timms knocked it in beating the defence to score. Higgins ran forward for Rochdale and Mick Wisdom put in a terrible challenge taking the man and not the ball. The referee showed Wisdom his second yellow and he was sent off for the second consecutive game. Maja tried his luck from the free-kick in stoppage time and the keeper got a hand to it, Okoroji reacted first and scored to make it 2-3. It's all over at Mill Farm and Fylde crash out of the EFL Trophy at the group stage. Rochdale were not particularly brilliant but Fylde were poor defending set-pieces and Rochdale used it to their advantage.

DF: I change the team to rest certain players in what is a long season. It was their chance to give me something to think about and try to impress. We didn't play particularly well as a team.

SAM ALLAWAY JOINS SALFORD CITY ON LOAN

Sam Allaway.webp

Salford City have agreed a future fee of £10k to sign Sam Allaway on a permanent deal at the end of the season. Allaway's last goal for Fylde was in August 2027 in a 5-2 win over Exeter City. He had struggled for form and spent half of the season on loan at Tranmere. Since returning he failed to make an impact and a permanent move seems to be the best solution for Sam Allaway.

Preston North End vs AFC Fylde
16th November 2030

=Preston result.webp

Fylde travelled to Deepdale without Mick Wisdom who was suspended and Tyrone O'Neill who was struggling with a reoccurring leg injury. Fylde were in for a tough day as Preston were running away with the league so far this season only losing once. Preston started the match at pace and after ten minutes James Jackson headed in from the corner sneaking in at the back post with a thunderous effort. It remained 1-0 until half-time and Preston caught Fylde napping just after the break when Ian Brown beat Mark Morton to double the lead when he got on the end of Thompson's cross. Five minutes later the nightmare deepened and Brown got his second and Preston's third adding to the despair for manager Duncan Ferguson. Fylde sparked into life with 20 minutes to go, Wilson brought it forward and played it to Ferguson, he put a nicr through ball in for Jones on the left who cut in and took a shot but it was saved at the near post. Embid played it to Wilson in the centre circle, he played it wide for Henderson to chase and he got there, first time pass into the box for Adrian Pirone to slot and he does it nicely, 3-1! Henderson with the corner on 80 minutes, crossed to the near post and Bytheway flicked it in! 3-2! Fylde have a chance here. Jones whipped the free-kick into the box on 87 minutes and Alan O'Neill headed it in! But he was offside! Ferguson was furious it was ruled out. The final whistle is blown and Ferguson was straight over to the referee demanding an answer. Fylde could not get the equaliser but showed great courage late on.

DF: The first half defending cost us but we should have got a point out of it. We were robbed at the end, plain and simple.

Absolutely reeling.

Mad Mick Wisso, whatcha doin' with your tackle again? Didn't you learn from last time what to do?

Now we enter the post-Allaway years, something seems to have changed. I don't know but they always say it's darkest before the dawn, but the magic is ebbing and Big Dunc looks grey and aged like a young David Moyes.

Mick Wisdom picked up another booking which means he will miss the next match against Exeter City. It was 30 minutes into the match and Bytheway got his second assist setting up Pirone in the box who got it past the keeper, getting a hand to it in the process! Foster was beaten easily. Five minutes into the second half, Stevenson chased down the ball on the left flank, Alan O'Neill cleared the cross but Hooper hit a volley from outside the box and Foster tipped it onto the bar, Phil Stone was there first and he knocked in the rebound to equalise for Bradford. Phil Stone was running the show and was in acres of space every time he received the ball, the addition of Daniel Embid in the middle for Fylde was not doing them any favours. Wisdom's corner was cleared and the match headed into extra time. Maja came on for Wisdom in extra time. Maja capitalises on a tired defence and wins the ball back, he gets to Bytheway and he finds Henderson who heads against the bar.
