Everton Summer transfers 2021

The issue with not getting a backup if sorts is that James is not playing 38 games so you have to have another way of going about it. I'm not a huge fan of that. I like continuity.

I don't think you can get continuity with James, even with Buendia.

In general too (and you will see this a fair bit from me, so I am consistent) he just fits the wrong type of profile of player going into what is likely to be quite a brutal bear market. He has a long contract, witn a financially stable club who are well run and about to be promoted. I basically think we can squeeze better value from elsewhere. None of that means Buendia isn't a good player, but sometimes you have to look at a player and acknowledge you just missed the boat (which would probably have been last summer).

It won't be impossible. He's going to be back in the league next season.

I've got him as 25 at the end of the year. He's not young but he's also good now. I'm not saying sign a 25 year old and hope they get better. He's nice now.
Yes he will and probably still at Norwich. Well he’s not a kid was my point.

You rate Him, I don’t. We will see what happens.

Even if there is a drop off it would be nice to have someone who can do relatively similar things.

I agree. I think the price is prohibitive now but I just like him a lot.

I said a couple of days ago that he had more assists last season than any of our midfielders since Ross in 16/17. I'd expect James to top it but still he's shown enough at this level to be worth a deal. The other thing being the best player in the championship is usually good enough to be a solid PL player.

But that's all I've got, can't wait to see what he does next year.

And we’ve all cried how crap our midfield has been. For the last few years. And he’s not playing in a 2 alongside Allan or Doucoure. He will play number 10, which ancelotti doesn’t use very often. Or as one of the front 3.

Which goes back to my original point he’s not the answer for that position. He lacks power pace and goals.

I feel like these are the opposite of what our RW needs to be if we are still using Richardson. Pace is nice but we need ball progression and creativity. When things are working well Richardson and DCL are more than adequate for goals and the other guys need to do other things.

I don't mean they shouldn't ever score either, just that it wouldn't be the main criteria for me.

I think if it was possible Leon Bailey would be perfect, as he has pace, creativity and that big of magic to beat a player - but realistically I think that would hinge on us getting Europe, and getting in some money as he would not come cheap given how good he’s been this season.

Can we lock this thread till a few people read books on football please.

Some of the shouts in here have turned my hair grey.

Nobody post for the next 48 hours please.

An artists interpretation of how Goat looks right now...

Again im looking differently on how I see our team moving forward. At times this season when Richarlison has been out of form, we’ve. Had nobody from the bench who can offer what he can.

So we buy Buendia as one on main buys, maybe we sell kean and get another young striker as back. Injuries to Richarlison and DCL. And we could be left with a front 3 of iwobi, Buendia and some kid upfront or siggurdsson in the false 9 and that’s the big issue for me and I wouid rather us buy a Bailey or Sarr or neto. These players can still create but offer other things Buendia can’t
