yeah def.. it was just a general comment, there were some shouts after the Fulham game doubting Carlo, and I don’t have problems with people questioning or complaining about the manager but I don’t really see any managers out there that would be a legit upgrade. Carlo to pep would be more like a side grade. Marc Silva to pep would be an upgrade

Also as a fellow Aussie, love seeing Aussie blues here.
And if we don't get the 3 points tonight it will be the same tomorrow.

The guy took over when we was in the relegation zone.
We now have an outside chance of finishing 2nd and a very good chance of finishing 4th and also in QF of the FA cup. We have achieved nothing yet but the progress we've made so far is huge. How much progress do people want in 14/15 months?
Are people forgetting our season was over in January the past few seasons.

He can be more fairly assessed next season. So far he has only brought 2 of his own players in Allan and James. Doucoure and Godfrey were Brands signings. If we get another 2 of his and 2 of Brands this summer we will be nearer to a complete overhaul with the best of the previous regimes players filling the gaps and the bench. I said I would like top 6 and a semi final at least this season and that is still possible. Worst case is top 8 but I would be a little sad if that was as good as it got. Dream world was top 4 and/or win something and this is still possible. He's got the tactics wrong a couple of times but he has also come up with a quite a few masterclasses.

Anyone questioning his position after Fulham is a monumental idiot.

I just found it amazing that in the immediate aftermath of a 2-0 away derby win at Anfield there were still people talking about the Fulham and Newcastle games and saying it counts for nothing if we don’t beat Southampton. Fair enough we all want to beat Southampton and a derby is just three points but would any of Madtinez Koeman Silva have been questioned immediately after an away derby win (which none of them managed even once).

There seems to be an expectation of Carlo for some that he has to be perfect. It’s very odd considering where this group of players has been for the past 4 years or so and the improvements Carlo has already and winder the conditions he’s operating in,

To some extent though he has raised the expectation levels. It's a bit of a catch 22 in that regard, but it is understandable.

It's a massive monkey off the back, but if we end up losing 1 of the next 2 we have kind of thrown away a good opportunity to build some momentum .

Weeeelll - I reckon they are! Thank god we got Carletto and not the other guy anyway!

Hmm. Im not sure they are a top pull anymore. Owner seems quite happy just running it from afar and not pumping anything in to go all out.
Arteta was a lets hope pep rubbed off on him option.

Who's to say it was in their control? I dont think managers are fighting each other for the arsenal job tbh.

That's not what I meant, I just meant I found it curious that no one in the media found it odd Arsenal went for the inexperience of Arteta vs the experience of Carlo with massive clubs on his CV. I just found it interesting these big clubs are going for ex-players.

Sure the Arsenal job is not the easiest, but they have a massive wage budget and if you're afforded time I could see Carlo or other managers turning it around especially with the resources they have. Everton have half their wage budget.

I'll just be frustrated more than anything if we lose to Southampton twice in a season. I said at the time they were nothing special, they were in a good period themselves and pretty disciplined at the time and executed well, and we were the opposite which was why they deserved to win that game.

I just think we've (and a lot of other teams this season) have been giving up a lot of soft goals at home, where other teams have defended well and countered well. A few games the game was in the balance like the Leeds and Newcastle games and we were terrible and once they scored, it never looked like we could come back. Our attack seems to have problems breaking down stubborn defences.

Prob a lot less now ozil has gone. Their wage bill still includes the likes of willian and aubameyang. No transfer fee but still crazy wages that i dont really reflect where they are at now.
Tbh this might still be a bit personal. Im still pissed we gave them more that 25p for iwobi.

Nice theory. We never really know though, do we? But I'd like to think that Carlo was attracted to Goodison by what he took to be the genuine desire and enthusiasm of the owners compared to the interfering nutters he dealt with in the past e.g. Berlusconi.
I suspect that the reasons that Carlo came to Everton were ;

1. The money
2. The project
3. The promise of working unfettered
4. Being wanted.......

.....but not necessarily in that order.

It was a brave move by Moshiri and will , I believe , turn out to be a masterstroke.

yep... he’s been meaning to stay long term everywhere he went, but hes always got the sack ahead of schedule, most of the time it wasn’t the results.

Also I find it interesting no one really batted an eyelid at Arsenal going with a first time younger manager vs Carlo. Like why?
They did, Arsenal got the amazing end of the stick Everton got a manager who was past it, can’t manager worse players and only coming for the money
