I never bought the "Gana is a poor footballer who runs a lot" narrative in the first place is all it is. If you don't see Gana as being bad then it actually takes someone being exceptional and Allan to me is just decent too.

What I saw was a player that was great at pressing and getting round the pitch amd tacking. Couldn’t sit infront of the back 4 because he couldn’t be trusted deep in our own half. He would at least 3 times a game pass the ball straight to the opposition under no pressure.

And I remember a number of times him being in the final 3rd amd his passing amd shooting was atrocious. He’d Kick the ball like a 5yr old.

If he was so good why didn’t PSG buy him off Lille when he was about 25 and would have cost a lot less than 30mil

I'd argue that paying a lot of money for Walcott, Tosun and Gylfi hindered us a lot more.

well tosun was respectable record in turkey and internationally .. he turned out [Poor language removed]

the other two .. walcott decent goalscoring winger / gyifi massive assists free kick don .. if he was 25 mill we would say hes been a decent signing , 45 tho jesus you'd expect more

This just isn't true. It's really hard to have an honest conversation about a player when things this obviously not true are being offered.

This just isn't true. It's really hard to have an honest conversation about a player when things this obviously not true are being offered.

You do understand that there is a difference between "never gave it away" (which I'm not saying) and "gave it away three times a game minimum under no pressure" (which you are saying, and makes it sound like he was a league two player tossed into our midfield because he ran a lot), right?

I got told a story years ago about a prem player from here about to move to west ham and allerdyce offered him a big contract if he signed for his agency ( hes got shares in a football agency ) thought it was a lot of bull .. seen ravel morrison saying the exact same story on a podcast .. made me wonder big sams transfer little bevvys or poor scouting

I mean we have some fans that rate crap players and some that hate good players. Just because one random Besiktas fan didn’t think he’d be good for the PL doesn’t mean it was an obvious mistake from Everton at the time lol

We definitely need another midfielder this summer. But I want someone who’s a class above Gana’s level . If you want gana back or someone similar. Then it probably says that’s the difference between us when it comes to ambition.

I wouldn't mind having someone above his level but there are probably 25 in the world who qualify so not easy to do.

And I'm not even saying bring Gana back fwiw, but this revision where he was a terrible player aside from working hard and tackling is an unreal one.
