ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

How can you agree a contract but no speak to a club before they had permission to discuss a contract?

Oh it's Liverpool, nothing to see here.
Think the above post in which he said its just the Agent being mouthy is spot on at this point.

Theres a similar story from the same Agent saying United were close also.

That's more of a response than I thought you'd get

Sorry - my mistake. I find this incredibly hard to believe either way. It's very very unlikely they would have been so far down the road with a striker in Jan, given they had one centre half and two midfielders playing out of position

I would put that in the "agent looking attention" folder; that said - to your initial point they appear to be skint, but the centre half situation appears to explain that more than Sarr

I mean, I do find it very hard to believe they would have been so far down the line on a striker for that sort of fee.

If they were, in honesty there situation is even more confused than we first thought.

Maybe hes confusing it with the summer?

Sarr has been poor this season, and I cant imagine anyone, never mind Liverpool putting that sort of money down.

I dont think theyve got it. I'm not sure we need this story to prove it though.

Yep, only got Jota as Wolves were willing to accept £5mill upfront, same as Bayern.

Problem with that comes the fact that all these staged payments come out of future budgets. So Bayern, Wolves could be owed £20mill this summer.

James Pearce done a worrying article for them on their transfer plans should they miss out on CL football this summer too - in short, they will be up crap creak.

I commented on Pearces article the other day. The tone was alarming. It was "if we dont get top 4 it wont be a case of who we buy, but more who we are able to keep". Used a phrases like disaster and the like in it. For him, who's usually very measured it was quite incendiary.

I would surmise they are really panicking that Klopp being the loose cannon he is, is going to end up costing them top 4.

I mean to give an idea if his article (and hes far from the only one), I remember articles being written about Leeds with the same phraseology, and about ourselves in the 90s.

that is my take - square pegs and round holes. No way they were keen to sign Sarr in Jan for a significant fee

my gut feeling is an agent trying to justify himself

Yes, or maybe he's confusing tmhe summer with January.

I mean if they were pursuing Sarr for up to £40m to be bluntly honest I'd say that was more alarming than them beign skint and not able to afford 40m which is sort of old news now. They may be a lot of things FSG, but they are not really dumb.

There is an interesting question about what happened between Werner-Jota in terms of signings. There was some change of policyat that point. I'm not sure where Sarr fits in though. He could be a really good signing for us, at a knockdown fee in the summer.
