I have a question on work rate. Why are we so sure it is good? Half these posts are excusing his terrible current form because he's not arsed about playing for Bournemouth currently. Wouldn't that be a red flag?

No. He has been promised things by Bournmouth that they have not kept. It was not long since Manchester United were interested in him, but he was overpriced by Bournmouth.

He's on bad form for the first half of the season in a poor league, no doubt.

He also had a decent scoring rate playing for a poor side in the Premier League over a number of years.

No not every signing can be a superstar but signing players whose ceiling is bang average is an objectively bad strategy for creating a team that is better than bang average.

And we have James flipping Rodriguez we don't need Josh King for penalties FFS.

To paraphrase you its objectively bad strategy to hope that your star players are going to be playing every minute of every game.

He has never played alongside players like Rodriguez. Maybe that lifts his ceiling, maybe a shot at a bigger club lifts that ceiling.

Just wait and see what happens. I have always found him to be a useful player if not quite a world beater. He is a similar build to DCL and indeed Zirkzee so there is obviously some kind of plan in place there.

He will play better in a better team is also not good team building imo.

personally im pleased with this, he's a goal threat that doesn't cost an arm and a leg, can play right across the front line and he's ready to go straight into the side in a position where we badly need depth. win, win, win if you ask me.

Also I don't think buying him will stop us from upgrading the forward line further come the end of the season.
