It was the first home game of the season although beng played in Accrington at the Crown Ground. The Fylde fans were in great voice and the Norwich fans made the long trip from East Anglia and were situated behind the goal in the terraced section. Charley Coe missed this one with a slight injury and Declan Marshall made his first start behind Tyrone O'Neill. The crowd was silenced on ten minutes when Humphries played it to Jones on the left who crossed low and hard into the box and Alan O'Neill sliced it into his own net. Norwich with the lead. Three minute later Henderson won the ball outside his own area, ran forward at speed through the centre and sprayed it right to Bytheway, he fancied his chances about 30 yards out and hit the bar! Henderson went for the follow up but was tackled. Fylde were showing good character and were fighting hard for the equaliser. Wisdom took the corner but it was headed away at the near post, McGavin picked it up and played it to Marshall, he tried a shot bit it was blocked, picked up the loose ball and on the edge of the D found the corner, hit the post and came off the keeper into the net! 1-1! Five minutes into the second half, Hadler punched the ball clear, Marshall took it down nicely and ran forward, he got it out wide to the sprinting legs of Bytheway, Bytheway crossed into the box and the arriving powerful header of Tyrone O'Neill made it 2-1! Brilliant counter attack and Fylde go in front! Henderson almost made it three when Bytheway jinxed down the right and found the winger in the box but the keeper kept it out. Bytheway is starting this season sharp. Josh Ferguson was on to support the midfield and Bytheway was jinxing down the right almost scoring a wonderful solo goal. 21 year old defender Andrew Jolley made his debut replacing Morgan Feeney on 77 minutes. Fylde have been impressive here today and it wasn't over yet. 84 minutes on the clock and Wisdom played the free-kick into the box, it was intercepted by Kelly who played it across his box and Henderson reacted first and got his first of the season! The Fylde legend off the mark! The whistle goes for full-time and the stadium erupts! Fylde with their first win of the season in front of their fans!

DF: We played expansive football and Bytheway was outstanding today, he gave their full back hell all afternoon and I'm happy for all the supporters who travelled here today. That win is for you and we hope to keep pleasing you.

Victor Oto'o made his Fylde debut and played on the right side with Joe Jamieson. Barry Sargent led the line for The Coasters. Derby had the early chance and Jolley was there to clear away. Oto'o came down the right and crossed for the volley of Sargent and the keeper turned it behind after ten minutes. Yeboah played it wide for Osei to chase and he got his cross in for Davies who slotted past Foster putting Derby in front. Derby were playing well and the first goal spurred them on, Kubo played the ball to the back post and Fylde were in a mess at the back, Yeboah scored to make it two. Fylde showed spirit and Oto'o got an assist when he played in Henderson to pull one back on 37 minutes with a tidy right footed finish! Five minutes to go to half-time, Barjonas whipped in the corner and Joe Worrall got to the front post and tapped in the third for Derby. Andrew Jolley having a poor game here for Fylde. Ferguson went attacking with his changes to try and get back into this game and Henderson almost got the second with ten minutes to go but the keeper put himself across the goal well to keep it out. Derby proved to be too strong for Fylde and Louis Morgan scored a great right footed shot from outside the box into the bottom corner to make it 4-1. Fylde came forward in the last minutes of the match and kept fighting but the match ended 4-1 and a much better team go onto the second round.

DF: Derby are a team with great quality and they got the job done making it look easy. We can take positives and we didn't completely fold after conceding. We can get back to the league now, we have a tough away trip to Reading this weekend.

Brett McGavn gave the ball away in the centre circle, Mark McKue got it into the box to Jon Reid who slotted past Foster on the left to give the home side the lead 8 minutes before half-time. Foster should have done better at his near post. The first ten minutes of the second half were bright for Fylde, McGavin unlucky putting his shot wide but Fylde were working hard to win the ball back in their own half. Brett McGavin gave the ball away to Reading once again and Jon Reid received the pass and curled it into the bottom corner to double Reading's lead. Charley Coe came on to replace Brett McGavin who wasn't having a great game. Victor Oto'o came on for Tyrone O'Neill and it looked like the points were Readings but out of nothing, Henderson pumped a long ball into the box and Oto'o placed it into the top corner on the 90 minute mark! Can Fylde salvage something?
