Evening Toffees - Come on United

Eh, Neville makes exactly two threads.

One is when we're playing one of the big boys in which he says 'Evening Toffees -best of Luck for tonight' and the other is when they're playing one of their big matches and he comes on and says 'Evening Toffees, Hope we win tonight'.

He's like that retarded guy on the bus who always asks you about the weather. It's just how he is, it's the only thing he says, and you can't take offense by it or read too much into it.

You just pinch his little manc cheeks and say 'sunny ain't it' and watch his face light up at the simple delight of recognition from a superior.

"I hope we win tonight too, Nev, I hope we win tonight too."

WTF ???

You DONT LIKE him - SWERVE HIM .

I LIKE Him ....

Hes a Mensch , and a GOT Mensch At That .

Oh , An' My Manc Brother ..

Just to point out, I have nothing against the member Nevillle himself. Think he's a sound person and always behaves himself very respectfully on this forum. It's just that I don't have much time for his team. Never liked United, never will.

On top of that, I just fail to see what Everton will gain by a Man Utd win tonight. Sorry, but I just don't understand.

Who said we gain? Liverpool get a good boot in the bollocks. That's the point.

Sorry mate, but I just fail to see your point of view. If United win tonight, you're gonna walk up to some Kopites tomorrow and rip them over that United win, right? What's Everton's success in that Man Utd success?

Zero, nothing, nil in my eyes, but as said I'm probably missing out on something quite obvious here.

No one need do anything of the sort. They'll be gutted. That is an incontrovertible truth regardless of any Everton input.

What's Everton's success? Nothing. No success for Everton whatsoever. Liverpool's feast of a season crowned with a shit sandwich, that's the outcome we're looking for here.

It's not that difficult to 'get', tbh.

barca for me all the way, just so we dont have to put up with a man united wankfest for the rest of the season in the papers, its win win for me i like barca if they win good, if they lose it winds the red****e up, just hope its a good game

I gouldn't give much of a crap about this game really.

Kinda hope United win as I can't stand Barcelona, but can't stand United either and the thought of the inevitable toss-fest in the media if they win is enough to make me shudder.

My grandad would have slapped me for supporting Mancs over Scousers so I kind of agree with NIK, but that said, I'd love to see United come back from 4-0 down, just so they shut the f*** up about Istanbul.

Sorry, but just doesn't work for me. It's one of the things that puzzless me about Evertonians really. Always claiming to be a big club, but showing a small club mentality on many occasions. Be it about transfers or about the RS, we always look to play the role of victims.

I don't give a damn, about how much it potentially hurts kopites when United lift that CL trophy. It's Everton only, I care about. If I wished to revel in Uniteds successes and glory to piss of the RS, I'd be supporting them instead of Everton.

Each to their own I guess though, it just doesn't work for me that way. Barca all the way for me, as I'm sure that will piss of the Galacticos Empire.

That's complete nonsense. It's all about rivalry, not 'big' or 'small' clubs or 'victimhood'. Are United and Liverpool small clubs when they want each other beaten in major finals...because, believe you me, they do. This goes to the heart of football support. It's always been the way that the worst possible outcome is wanted for arch rivals. The Spanish call it Morbo.

Your position is one that tries to do the impossible: hermetically seal yourself with positive emotion for the football club you support with no regard for what others do. An impossibility. And I dont even think viewing things from a distance is the explanation for it - there's plenty of Evertonians on here from the US and Australia who 'get it' perfectly well.

Alright, if that's what you like to think, than so be it. Maybe I just don't 'get it', but believe me, I know enough about football rivalry. Just don't see the point in having a wankfest over United winning a CL title. If it was United vs Liverpool in that final, than fair enough, I would be wishing Man Utd all the luck in the world, but just don't see the point ('get it?') now.

You'll never understand.

No I DO understand. I understand that it's scousers over mancs ANYDAY. I dont have to talk funny to know that. Don't get me wrong, I kinda want Man United to get the 5 just so they'll finally shut up, but I'm not going to revel in it and I'm not gonna be bouncing around my living room like it seems some of you will. Its just so so wrong. And it fuels the fire of the 'small club' jibe. Clinging onto another's success- THE MANCS FFS- to get a 1up on Liverpool. If it's most other teams that have to win to [Poor language removed] Liverpool, yeah I'll want them to win. But the mancs- how anyone can be physically happy when Rooney and co. are up there lifting a trophy with the fans singing the usual assortment of awful nursery rhyme songs they think is the bestest astounds me. I think of it as 'every cloud has a silver lining'. Man United getting a title is awful, but the fact it annoys liverpool is the silver lining.
