2020/21 James Rodriguez

Part of the problem is up until now none of the players behind him seem capable of regularly finding him in the little pockets of space he does find.

he moves, looks for it.....his teammate sees it but thinks they aren’t up to the pass and go elsewhere.
Personally I’d just try ping every ball out of our half to his feet on the ground as soon as they get a glimpse of him being free

so for me he could have had much more impact in the game overall and other games if we can improve in that area. I saw it regularly in the first half, just willing them to try get it in to him. The ones he loses out on are often fouls our way like with Richy.

altho he was obviously knackered in the second half and needed to come off

James Rodriguez has participated in 64% of Everton's goals in 9 games (14 goals out of 22)

I know it's a long time ago, but I remember similar things happening when Peter Beardsley joined us. There were moments when it felt like the rest of the team where watching him play and then realise that the pass was to where they should have been.

Both great players though and we should treasure having James in our team.

One of the commentators said either late in the first half, or early in the second half, how “This Everton team has to carry him a lot of the time” or something to that effect.

But arguably, we wouldn’t have half the goals we have this season if it weren’t for him. He’s involved in so much of our attacks opening up avenues with his passing.

Even his pre assist on Sunday. Just a little ball out wide onto the oncoming fullback, but hit with the perfect weight that Digne was able to put it across the goal first time. His passes in the attaching third never look rushed, even under pressure.

It was Keown the strange looking scrotum.

He just wanted to jump on the band wagon saying he gets carried, doesn't do anything defensively blah blah.

If he wasn't assisting and wasn't scoring then it's fair enough because it means he isn't contributing. But he is contributing, pretty much every single game he's played he's contributed either goals, assists or chance that should have been taken.

Another match on Saturday where if he contributes and helps us to 3 points will move us up to 3rd. The likes of Keown can shove that down their crap trap

You don’t buy a Ferrari and use it to do the weekly shop.

Or something.

Keown is such an awful commentator, all he does is talk about what just happened as if he has an incredible insight. He’s the kind of commentator who watches a full back overlap and says ‘he’s really looking to overlap at every opportunity now’ even though it’s an hour into the match and that’s the first time he’s done it.

James carries us in creating chances and we mostly carry him in defence, that’s the plan! He is also a great outball when we’re under pressure, remember him beating three palace players in our own half and keeping possession when otherwise all we could do is lump it to dcl and hope it stuck

The media just repeats the same crap over and over. When they like a player, as is the case with Thiago, they'll marvel at every pass even if it's a simple one. With James, the cool thing to do is say he is lazy and useless
Midfielders that run around lots with no skill are all the rage now. Give me a James type player any day.
