ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

But yes not right. You've just acknowledged hes not right. His complaints have nothing to do with the broadcasters, so it's another stupid fight to pick.

If he wants to protect his players, maybe rather than pointing the finger, he can try looking in the mirror, as hes harming them more than Geoff Shreeves is.

If 5 subs come in, it will be in spite of these idiots, not because of it.

I think it is a fair fight to pick, I think there was a hint of sense in what OGS said last week. I do agree, it is not the responsibility of the broadcasters, but a wise man like yourself understands the role of PR in this. As soon as the next round of fixtures is selected, there will be no Wed to 1230 games selected by BT & then I suspect there will be an amend or agreement around future games.

Regarding the 5 subs, Klopp and Guardiola have been most vocal and have now had 6 more manager call for it (17 clubs voted no in the summer) post games. I dont like klopp, he is a moan and a sore loser, but to me it would be naive to think he has no influence, himself and Guardiola have brought huge attention on the 5 subs

Sorry Nath, but the "sure he didnt use his subs anyway" argument is completely misplaced. The major problem with three subs at the moment is managers feel (rightly or wrongly) they can't afford to make subs for fear of injury, we have seen ourselves with James at Southampton that it's a nightmare watching someone hobble around.

Football is losing the tactical element of subs unfortunately. Anyone who watched the city v pool match saw two teams effectively shake hands on 70 mins; because neither manager went to win the game with their bench

It's not misplaced at all, and your reasoning for not using all their subs due to fear is flawed.

Herr shipman and fraudiola have got form for not using their three subs for a number of years, often when they have got games well won.

If they were so concerned about players welfare, they would and should make the subs much earlier to protect from injury shouldn't they?

You're argument about them being scared of injuries is frankly rubbish - surely a sub made at the right time helps prevent injuries and protect the players - not waiting until they drop or a couple of minutes before the game end, after running around their legs off for another half an hour?!

You can't keep a sub or two back because you're scared of injuries and going down to 10 men as you have used all your subs - late injuries have always happened - teams just have to adjust and cope with going to 10.

With your argument you might as well save a sub for a late red card against you, so you can change things?!

Klopps a cryarseing tuetonic twot, who mismanages his players by not rotating properly, even though they have a huge squad, and then rushes them back post injury with the aid of the PEDs, and his moaning about 5 subs is becoming really tiresome.

I'm no fan of klopp & completely agree about the cryasreing and moaning. It is tiresome & dull, but it doesnt mean that everything he says is absolute horse manure, a majority is but the odd time he might be right.

Whether they were in the habit of making 3 subs or not doesnt matter when we are in such unusual times as we are, but for the record Liverpool made the most subs of any team last year (85) in the PL with City mid rank (79), however city did make the most starting 11 changes through season, which kinda debunks your "they have got form for not making many subs"

Secondly on the point of "you cant keep a sub or two back" for fear of injury, this is literally what both of them, Graham potter and others have said about this season, saying they can't make three subs earlier for fear of leaving someone on the pitch injured, we were all pulling out hair out when James was hobbling around St.Marys with 3 subs made.

The arguement that you should manage players by taking them off earlier is nonsense. What the stats are showing around soft tissue injuries, is that they are unpredictable and if you could "protect one or two" by taking them off i'd imagine they would, but when it is a lottery as to who is getting injured, the game is losing and edge & subs are no longer used as a tactic within the game, but as injury management. I reference the City V liverpool match in a previous post, they effectively shook hands on 70 mins, the same can be said of Arsenal v Leeds yesterday. there is definitely a valid arguement that they should manage players through rotation, but for me (& 8 PL managers to date) that should be supported by 5 subs.

Regarding red cards, you are right you cant mitigate for every risk within the game, otherwise it would be boring. But for perspective since the start of this season through to the end of last week there have been 116 soft tissue injuries compared to 5 red cards. It's about reducing risk not removing it completely.

Yes I mean it's fair enough to highlight, though frankly what's the difference between 1230 and 1500? Or can Thursday clubs now only play at 1500 or later on a Sunday? What are the implications if this?

The point is though, it's not the broadcasters fault. Its clubs like Liverpools who have set the rules. So Klopp should have the decency to be honest.

As for the 5 subs thing, he has an influence but I suspect him and Pep put more people off. If he would have shut up, given what the EFL have done they may just have let it come in.

I think what's happening is club are realising, with the busy run if domestic fixtures its needed, whereas previously when it was European games it wasnt. I don't think it has much to do with Klopp.

Just read a report how injury hit Liverpool put out a "patched up" team against Leicester.
Seems they had to do this because along with a couple of names I've actually heard of, i am duly informed that Ricardo Pereira, Wifred Ndidi, Caglar Soyuncu and Timothy Castagne were all injured.
How wiĺl they cope?

Never mind (insert opposition) missing key players. If Liverpool don’t have their maximum team out it’s not only grossly unfair but also mind blowingly majestic if they win. I believe that’s how it goes.

As soon as we go to 5 subs, we get another full asterisk season for me as there was a mid-season rule change.

It was already compromised, but with the sub numbers then the league's integrity is fully breached. They should have had the 5 sub rule from the start if that's what was needed - and with the fixture congestion it obviously was.

Nail head fella, it should have been 5 from the off.

They all knew it was going to be a condensed season, but they all voted, fairly, on 3 subs, so all should just stfu and get on with it.

Sick of hearing Herr Shipman droning on about it now, but sadly Klopp just loves hearing the sound of his own falsies clacking, and the media give him ample opportunity to sound off.

If he managed his players and rotated them better, their legs might not be falling off?!

I see Brighton’s best player got sent off in the 90th minute of their last game and faces a one match ban. I wonder what game he’s going to miss....

I and most blues celebrated Van Dijk getting injured so we are both as bad as each other in that respect.

Wouldnt say many of their players are close to 30 like...pretty sure Alisson, Gomez , robertson, Arnold, keita, jones, jota, Fabinho are 20-25. Mane and Salah are only 28. Think it's only Milner over the age of 30.

Not too sure what Klopps moaning about though what else can be done. It's an unprecedented season injuries will happen to everyone.

They will probably just swerve the cups anyway as per usual
