None of them want to get near the penalty box so why all 4 played is astonishing.

I was fine with 352 as atleast having two up top meant we could play more direct and have someone feeding off DCL's flick ons but that set up today was God awful.

True and Carlo has to take the share but the players too I’m sure he would of asked that team he selected to carry out a plan and they didn’t. Maybe he should have known better but there’s no way he had that display in his plans. Players just aren’t good enough and I think they find new ways to surprise Carlo in how cowardly they are.

Yeah, gotta say makes me feel a little better. Didn’t think we would be second still at this time of the day after a defeat. We can still put this right and get the feel good factor back against United. I think we can of James is raring to Go and we get a few more back.

I think the problem is specifically that type of fan

As always, Brands left the squad needlessly short of depth and quality. Only he knows why he allowed 2 to leave with no replacement. It was typically incoherent planning for him.

being positive about it, it’s possible they knew they would have to be leaving us somewhat short in some area....at least in terms of quality, given the restrictions on the wages and on who they could shove out the door. and currently it shows, but in other parts of the season we will be fine.

another couple of windows and even more of the average and crap players we have to put up with will be gone. Personally wasn’t expecting us to be any better than say battling for 6th and we look ok in that regard. Next season though you’d hope we have more of the tools needed to change things up

Digne and Richarlison aren't going to wait for Brands to try and build a 3 or 4 year plan. In fact I dont think that's sensible given the opportunity we had this year. The next season is the only one that matters and he left us short.

...Tosun is ineffective but so was Kean, I don’t see that we’re any weaker without Kean. With regards to a replacement, I wouldn’t make excuses for Brands but we don’t know if spend was exhausted or if players wanted were unavailable.

I was delighted

Until we let two attackers go and brought no one in.

Now we've already been punished and are in danger of everything unravelling. We dont act like a big team.

Not many worse things to sour the end of a weekend than Everton disappointing you!

Take me back to Derby week when we were number 1 in the charts, number one in the league, our perfectly balanced front three were fit and available and the only Everton worries I had was an erratic goalkeeper from Sunderland!

yeah, fair point.

but I do think they have had to do a lot of juggling there to change up the squad as much as they did, and it’s very possible that the extra couple moves we wanted were not feasible in that window

Yeah but by the time we play Utd on Saturday we could be down to 5th and within reach of every other club down to 13th !
Some of those players today were a disgrace to the shirt. Calro put 5 experienced (albeit defensive) midfielders in to give us a platform to work from. But all they did was pass it amongst themselves and sideways. There was absolutely no penetration and to be honest none of those 5 are capable. Siggy, Delph and Gomes were a joke and not for the first time and yet they keep playing. I can only hope Carlo is basically giving them a last chance, unfortunately it means us losing points when he does that. I know he hasn't really got proper back up players but Siggy, Gomez and Delph obviously have no pride in what they do. If I performed in my job like they do (and not just the once) I'd be sacked, I wish they could.
