2020/21 Jordan Pickford

Pickford is totally a reactionist, which makes him a great reflex saver, but also makes him prone to being reckless where a calm head is needed.
He is not a brutal aggressive, yard dog type, but will no doubt be painted as such now that he has "touched" a golden child of the Sky gods.
The best keepers in the world have a cool head most of the time, and reactionist reflexes when needed (Big Nev! God bless him).
Maybe, one day, Pickford will calm down, but until that day, I would rate him as a high risk for us.
Maybe give him a break for a few games and put someone with good old fashioned, calm basic handling skills between the sticks.

The point I am making, if the people who are supposed to be with you are on your back, what does that achieve.....get behind him....support him....and lets see what happens...
Nothing will happen though because he’s shown himself to be pony, the volume of evidence is now overwhelming. Hes had the support and through his own fault he’s lost it, he’s had several months without a crowd and he’s been even worse. There’s no longer excuses for him he’s a fundamentally crap keeper capable of a good reaction save once in a while

It wasn't even a tackle he made. It was an attempt to block last ditch. Pundits have an agenda though

Definitely, and I'm not buying into kopite media, disgusting. All Pickford was doing was make himself big to block the ball, only Pickford is silly enough to come out and close the space on Van Winkle, most opposing players and keeper do not attempt to nullify Van Winkle, hence supposed awesomeness. He is bullying player who throws his frame about. He got caught out today and long time coming, another day it's the golekeeper mugged off or flatned... Excellent and brave keeping for me.

That would be applicable if he had saved the offside goal. The more I see it the more it makes me angry, that would have been another derby thrown away by him.

Yes he saved two decent efforts today but I'd rather he let them/well the header in and save the routine stuff.

Thinking about it he is very good when the ball is at a mid-level height. He isn't great with on the floor stuff.

Yes, agreed. We just need someone with the basics. The foundation of good keeping. I believe it's his reaction saves, the ones that get all the replays, are what brought him all the attention in the first place. Unfortunately, those are getting more rare, which means he hasn't much else to fall back on.
