His injury hell led to a huge hole in the midfield, which in turn saw Silva sacked as he had no answer.

Ancelotti comes in and revamps the entire midfield with sensible spending, whilst we still have the unknown of JPG to come back potentially.

Yeah if he can come back at a good level to compliment the players we already have then our midfield will have done a full 180 from being one of the worst in the league to one of the best

The whole "like a new signing" line gets chucked about a bit as a joke, but honestly if Gbamin can get fit and also contribute then we've pretty much won the midfield lottery

Sorry mate you're way off on that one. You can see the complete transformation in this team just having two very good midfielders in the engine room. 8 of our 11 first choice players are exactly the same as last season. Silva played the majority of his games without Gbamin, Gomes and even Delph available. He had to play our 4th and 5th choice midfielders in those games. A fit Gbamin and Gomes would have made a hell of a difference.

I'm not saying we'd have finished in a champions league place. But there's no way Silva would have been sacked.

The same team last season just look at the difference between Carlo and him. Carlo won 8 d 6 l 6 with the same players.

Not sure how people can find excuses for Silva for being not good enough now, this is unbelievable. He was sacked because he lost like 9 games out of 16 and won 4 of them. We were 18th! He should never have been given this job in the first place but luckily we have got this right with Carlo.

Carlo is a better manager no question. But even he couldn't work magic with that midfield. He made us hard to beat but the football was dire

He hasn't been sawn in half lads he's had a couple of bad muscle injuries, if he rehabs properly and doesn't rush he should be fine. As for his ability/form, anyone making their mind up after less than 2 games is a bit of an idiot frankly.

Yep, sounds like Echo were talking wham again. Carlo reckons he'll be fit to play late next month. Might as well leave him until December though, for God's sake let's make sure he's totally fine before he gets near playing again.
