Confirmed Signing Josh King

Ah, fair enough. I just think we need to think a bit more long term. The signings we've made this window have all been top quality players who improve us straight away or youngsters with massive potential (apart from the new back up keeper). I agree we're light up front and I'd take King on loan, but to challenge the elite in the coming seasons we need better on permanent deals. Until we can shift more dead wood over the next window or two, we need to make do with who we've got, even though it really pains me to say that.
Agree with you totally that we need better....we always do. Just think King would be excellent temporary cover if DCL or Richarlison miss some games.

I'd baulk at signing him for anything above £13m that West Ham supposedly have had rejected.

All in all, that's a reasonable offer for a player in their final year at his level.

If it's a bidding war they want for him, we should step out. I like him but January is merely weeks away.

Moise Kean doesn't play for us.

Do you think Tosun is better than King ?

Kean is an Everton player.

Also, I've never said tosun is a better player, I've talked about his record being better than King. And rather than spending money on another player that our fan base will be shouting to replace in a years time, let's use what we have. My arguement is that people are breaking it down that he is a 1 in 3 striker, he isnt. And using that stat alone is pointless, as it shows that we have 2 better back up strikers already on our books.

Everybody knows he’s an Everton player. We’re talking about our squad for this season.

You never mentioned about squad for this season, you said he doesnt play for us. And actually, club wise, he has only played for us this season.

But its totally irrelevant anyway, the arguement has been (throughout the thread) king is a better option than tosun or kean (as a backup which is what he was prior to going on loan) is off the fact he is a 1 in 3 striker. He isnt.

He doesn't play for us. He plays for PSG.

He is an Everton player contractually.

Temporary is a misnomer here surely?
Unless he signs a pay- as -you - play contract.
Or a one year contract without a hefty wage attached.
In all likelihood he would claim a three year contract and the wage bill and purchase price represents a significant amount of money for a temporary solution ( to a problem which may not arise).
His age means that the financial outlay is effectively dead money.
Too much for too little in my opinion.

To progress as a club, you buy first team starters who better the first team, the lads who were playing then drop to the bench, and then in theory you have strengthened. If you buy back ups you're never getting any better. Just my opinion. King would fall into buying a back up category and his wages will be high.
This
Its quite a simple tactic really
Its not as though we have top class players in every position
20m On Josh King now is 20m less for a top class keeper next summer

The debate isn't silly at all. Our bench isn't good enough. We don't have a good backup striker.

Whether it's King or somebody else we need somebody on the bench who can come in to replace DCL when he inevitably gets injured that has a proven track record of scoring goals in this league. Tosun, Simms. No, not good enough.
Some of our first 11 is not good enough
Surely we should start getting that right first

You've selectively looked at two seasons rather than his whole prem career which seems a bit of a weird distinction to make. Particularly when last season Bournemouth were generally rank and had lost one of their main attacking players in Fraser along with struggling significantly with injuries.
Fraser played 28 PL games for Bournemouth last season and scored 1 goal
So they did not lose him and he had 4 assists so I would not class him as a main attacking player

They only lost him when he refused to sign a short term contract to finish the season, he walked out on them utter tit.

Temp is the wrong word I suppose but with time running out we do not have cover for DCL. King ticks the boxes as cover for DCL and Richarlison. We have to get a back up in asap or we could shoot ourselves in the foot. Ideally get a top drawer forward but then who sits on the bench.
