If he can perform to this level for half a season I’m going to be BOLD and say he’s the best player we’ve had talent wise since Arteta in his pomp without doubt... but I think he could go up a level. He could be the best player we’ve had since Andrei.

He's easily the best player I've seen in blue and I've been following since 95.

This is like Ronaldo level. Complete boss.

You know what was amazing - James always wanted the ball, no matter the situation. I've seen in the past a lot of players don't want the ball, pass it backwards quickly. You could give the ball to James with three players running at him and he'd find some way to squirm out of it. Amazing quality.

yeah it was fun to watch.

i thought he might have been rusty, but aside from a couple of scuffed shots, he looked sharp.

It's something we as a club haven't done much for about two decades despite having player's with that ability.

I actually quite fancy him to score past West Brom next week this way.

I thought he switched the play superbly yesterday from one wing to the other. That type of pass is one of the best passes in football to open up the opposition. We've had nobody doing it consistently for years. Top teams do it a lot

Gomes occasionally tries it but as we've seen he often misjudges the weight of the pass. James made it look simple, even when under pressure. His passing is as good as it gets. Make a run and he'll find you. That alone will completely transform our attack.

he linked up well with richarlison. the amount of times he slid out a pass to richy was notable. richy staying out wide or coming inside provided the perfect outlet for james' passes. we need dcl to offer more runs through the middle so james can slide him through on goal.
