What happens to the fee in the case of extension, like Keane?
Think it disappears and "just" wages appear in the accounts. Could be wrong mind cos I actually havnt a clue.
The remaining fee is amortized over the remaining (new) contract term
It is usually accounted for over the initial contract length but that may change when a contract is renewed if it makes sense for the club that owns them.

Yep so if its Rodriguez at £25mil 3 year deal then its £8.33mil a year.

Year 1: £8.33mil
Year 2: £8 33mil
Contract extension 2 additional years
Year 3: £2.8mil
Year 4: £2.8mil
Year 5: £2.8mil

So, still using Keane as an example, giving a new contract might actually free up funds now from a FFP perspective?

If rough calcs are correct it frees up about £3m a year.

Selling Gylfi would be huge for the accounts I think. Amortisation of his fee must be about £9m a year, then add on any fee we’d get for him, and get rid of his wages also.
