Only thing I could think of is that if we sign the player after the loan, we will be forced to pay Real Madrid as per terms of the loan. I doubt it’s just us cheesing Madrid here
Yeah, it seems odd that they couldn’t just structure a fee for a permanent deal over a couple of seasons but maybe the full amount has to show in the accounts this year despite when instalments are paid.

could all be nonsense. We wait and see I guess.

A loan could be good. He is injury prone and an older player. We get him for a year without committing to a long term contract with high wages meaning we can’t move him on if it doesn’t work out. In 12 months we then sign a younger option?

And if he recaptures his best from? Scores 15 goals and assists 20 more.

Then tells us to [Poor language removed] off because he's going to Tottenham.

Fee is amortized over the length of contract.

So if we signed him for £25mil on a 4 year deal its £6.25mil a year. 3 years £8.33mil

If its a one year loan at £5mil then its only a small difference really.

Probably sensible to have a 1 year loan with a clause that if we end up signing him next summer we pay Madrid

He's more of a novelty than anything, think Samuel Eto'o.

There's a reason why no one else wants him.

This is obviously a poor attempt at wuming but this is my take on why a superstar like James would want to come to everton.

I think it's fair to say that James career has stalled at real Madrid, zidane doesn't fancy him at all (only playing him once since December). His last 4 years have been blighted by injurys missing between 80-100+ days of the year per season. Add to this he is by all reports he is a introvert and suffers from extreme shyness, to the point where clubs he has been at have sent him to therapy to "try to get him to come out of his shell".

I think this paints a picture of a player who although is extremely talented is also very low on confidence. Who is looking towards the next world cup and wants to enjoy the remaining few years of his football career at a club where he can be a big fish in a small pond (maybe even a hero) with a manager who he trusts and knows he will get the best out of him. At a club where he doesn't have to be a 10/10 every game without getting ripped apart in the local press.

Let's be clear here, the only reason that James would look at us twice is because of his relationship with anchelotti. For the good of his career he needs to take a step down and luckily for us we are a step down with the manager he trusts the most at the helm.

What happens to the fee in the case of extension, like Keane?
