You see, this is the problem.

It's all opinion of course, but I'd say he's been about as effective as several other players on the pitch, yet without that goal people will still focus on the negatives.

He's been far more involved than usual, actual put himself about a lot more, at one point conceding a foul, and looked neat and tidy in places.

That can all improve, and will with games.

Not just defensively, though. He missed a sitter, he played some poor balls into the box.

I said when we first got him that he's like an Arshavin or a Robben or a Ronaldo. So frustrating most of the time but just enough magic to make up for the ten times he gets the ball and doesn't do anything.

Arshavin's the best example you can get, really. He just does **** all most matches, gives away the ball cheeply nine times out of ten but Wenger keeps picking him for that tenth time when he does something magic.

Like I said way back, the very best teams can afford a player like that. The question has always been whether we can.
