Confirmed Signing Allan

How? Through the possibility of vindictive behaviour by Napoli's chairman?

He won't sell us Allan if we have already bought Gabriel? That sounds a bit far fetched imo.

I don't believe that our failure to sign Gabriel thus far is due to Napoli's chairman threatening to keep hold of Allan.
If they think we've undermined an agreement they have with Lille for a player (albeit one they seemingly can't afford without sales) then why wouldn't they either demand more money or simply refuse to sell to us?

Given the thread suggestion that Lille won't hang on for too long, the strategy seems to be to hold off buying Allan until Lille get frustrated. They decide to sell Gabriel to us, breaking the agreement with Napoli. We get Gabriel and can still go to Napoli and ask for Allan knowing we didn't force the issue.

It’s plausible for sure. Maybe unlikely, but I can see Napoli being a bit petty over it and upping the price. It seems that we would have the leverage though because I can’t see Allan retaining his value for much longer, and if he isn’t in there plans, they’d be making a huge mistake by keeping him.

But Ancelotti has experience in this league and thinks he can do a job. I’ll trust him. He may be wrong, he may be awful and too slow and old. But he may be just what we need. If Carlo wants him, get him.

this.... if you appoint an expensive manager, who has won everything and it in all likelihood the best possible manager we could hope to attract... you have to trust him and back him. I have never seen Alan play but if Carlo is to have any chance of turning us into any sort of a half decent team , he must be backed . We finally have a manager ... not an ok one... not a “good” one... he’s literally one of the best managers in work football over the past 20 years and has won countless trophy’s in multiple leagues and countries and managed some of the best players in the world while they were at the peak of their powers. If you are ever going to trust anyone it’s going to be someone like him and there are literally about 5 managers in the world that are on his level as far as his experience and success is concerned

What's stopping us from buying Gabriel?
Lille want to protect their good relationship with Napoli after the Osimhen deal, but Napoli don't have the money untill we pay up for Allan or City pay up for Koulibaly. Lille apparently need to sell soon for FFP or something so it could be that playing the waiting game could get us both -- Getting Gabriel first will probably make Napoli harder to deal with though.
Going by that twitter linked before though so this could all be fictional.

I think there are rules in the French league which require a clear statement of accounts a bit before the season starts so they can verify what financial shape all the clubs are in before games start. I think, not 100% sure.
