So there’s the Portuguese international Euro winner ex Barca player we bought. Class is permanent and he’s always had it. Like a lot of the squad though it’s application and consistency. Gomes needs to be giving us 7/10 every week not an 8 one week then 2s for five other games.

Who knows. And we will still have Gbamin to come back. If Gomes doesn’t up his game to a consistent level I can see him going next summer

Gomes has the problem of carrying many Evertonians expectations on his back. I have to agree with BLF that he is by far our best midfielder even when not totally at the races. We know what he can do so we expect it every week. If he dips slightly, albeit still playing better than the other midfielders, he is the one that carries the failure in some Evertonians minds. We cannot rely on just one or 2 players as we have for many a year.....our problem is that we do not have even half a team of good enough players so the pressure falls on the likes of Gomes etc. We all have to blame someone but let us not blame the better players let us look at the turd players.

Much better from him today played some nice passes forward and was showing for the ball more. Clearly something hasn’t been right with him. Just hope he comes back a fresh player again at the start of next season and can find form early.
