Park End Retail Development: cancelled 'until next year'

We've probably ditched Sodexo for the catering, or not renewed the contract yet, they won't pay for it if they think we aren't signed up with them for whatever period they want.

i hope this never gets built. we need a new shop like a hole in the head ffs. MOVE THE PARK END STAND like it was designed for, dont build a shop on the space we need to re-build Goodison

yep very dissapointing!

but would have been even more dissapointed if the "Complex Legal Matters" had come to light after the thing was built or we rushed it through all half arsed!!

and yes i can see the "its cancelled" argument too but until the club says it is then it isnt!

just makes sense to delay a year and make sure its all gonna go smooth rather than rush in and and regret it for alot longer!

It comes as no surprise, since Kenwright has been chairman of our great club,we have become a laughing stock. The only saving grace is David Moyes who has performed miracles with one hand tied behind his back.

But what's the 'complex legal matters' *delaying* this?

When the deal was announced it was as straight forward as you could get - as Robert Elstone said:"This new scheme is totally self-funded by partners so there is no net cost to the Club.” So no financial issue there. And the council gave it planning permission. So all systems go from there too.

Maybe they could try informing everyone in a general way what the complex leagl matters relate to. What area of this project has stalled it. Then maybe it'd be a believable hitch rather than being seen as a project getting kicked into the long grass and eventually abandoned.

I would hazard a guess it may have something to do with transport and health/safety of 35.000 every second week. It makes sense in the summer months.

Either that or we're this ( ) close to getting takenover, just a thought.

Personally, I'm glad that its being put back. Praise for Everton for thinking ahead with this project. I know its heretical for some on here to hear praise for the board but good on them. My concern is that i think that it puts the cart before the horse. I would have wanted them to at least lay out a forward looking plan for Goodison Park. For example, if this is built, what would be the effect upon any development on GP given the small footprint?

While I'm happy to praise them for this forward looking project, I would also damn them for not giving us a vision for how they see GP, even if they don't have the money to put down a bean counter at the moment.

But terms like inexusable, etc are a bit OTT - I'd rather it be build properly rather than rushed with attendant criticism from those only too ready to put the boot in.

Excellent post - as always mate!

I read somewhere that Kenwright takes £250k per month out of the club in 'scouting fees'.

Just saying.

I could have put my mortgage on Davek posting this.

But, back to the point - apparently they cant because of the (IT)estate involved, i'm the middle of
3 legal firms merging 6 offices, (IT is my bit ) and over 600 people, this equates to roughly 4 months of planning, 12 days of labour.

I fail to see how Everton (or whoever is PM'ing it, has balled this up)

Why haven't they said that? Not saying it isn't true like. It'd just makes sense to give that detail.

And it might have been a good idea to have sorted all that out before preparing the site for work:

I'm smirking as I write, but maybe Kenwright has a buyer lined up.
