The streaks that couldnt be removed have made them look like a quality pair of oily jeans now. I sewn on a Levi badge that I had made for my 4th daughters 3rd birthday (she's called Levi obviously). Yep my Levi 0151's have been talk of the toon for years man.

AFC Fylde vs Chester
15th September 2026

=Chester result.png

Newly promoted Chester were enjoying life in the National league getting off to a reasonable start to see them around mid-table early on. Their gameplan seemed to be frustrating Fylde as they sat back and focused on keeping the ball out for the entire first half, Fylde came forward in numbers but they were limited to shots from outside the box. Ferguson made no half-time changes and Fylde kept trying to break Chester down, Ferguson sent on Paul Townsend with 30 minutes remaining to bolster the attack and it was a lightning bolt shot out of nothing from Euan Henderson that stunned the whole Chester back line when it powered into the bottom corner. Four minutes later it was Okoroji who played the ball long for O'Neill, he headed it on but there was no one alongside him, Humphries tried to clear but it only got as far as Paul Townsend who then thumped it past the keeper. Fylde stood and applauded for the substitution of Morgan Feeney who had been a rock at the back so far this season. The Fylde faithul with sarcastic shouts of "Feeney for England" but I doubt England manager Adrian Boothroyd would be paying much attention. Mark Connolly came on to see the game out, the centre half had been injured and was eager to get some minutes under his belt to help see Fylde keep another clean sheet.

DF: We have to understand teams will park the bus at Mill Farm and Chester done a pretty good job for two-thirds of the match. We kept attacking and Henderson's strike was a thing of beauty! That's when the game changed and Chester eased up a little.

Sutton United vs AFC Fylde
19th September 2026

=sutton result.webp

The play-off semi-final between Fylde and Sutton last season was probably one of the best games of the season when Sutton were leading 2-0 with 30 minutes to go and Fylde came back to win 3-2, now Sutton have their first opportunity to put things straight and show their title rivals it's not a one horse race this season. Both sides couldn't break the deadlock after 25 minutes and Tom Hadler took the opportunity to slow the game down, the keeper lined up his kick but took an extra touch, he tried to recover the ball but Kieran Smith was aware and took the ball away from Hadler, rounded him and scored into an open net, a devastating mistake by Hadler to gift Sutton the lead on a platter. Fylde went in at half time a goal down and were looking to make amends early in the second half winning a corner. Ryan East crossed to the far post for Euan Henderson who was being marked by Bolton who had his hands all over Henderson and restricted his movement pulling him down to the ground. The referee instantly gave the penalty and Fylde had the chance to fix Hadler's earlier error. Henderson steadied himself before taking the run up and going straight down the middle, saved! Brown saves! Henderson missed again from the spot. Fylde with a golden opportunity to get back into the game against a tough Sutton United has been missed, goalscorer Smith went over to take the corner for Sutton and turned provider when Statham rose above Ryan East to head in at the near post. Fylde on the verge of their first league defeat of the season. Fylde were looking disorganised and it allowed to Sutton to keep getting into dangerous areas, Bolton took the throw, Smith found space inside the box unchallenged but Hadler made a good save however the rebound deflected off Crowther and into the net for the third. Sutton running away as clear winners and Fylde offering no response. Five minute left on the clock and the Fylde midfield came forward, East lost the ball but Wisdom picked it up, played it inside to Townsend who had a longe range dip but it went over the bar. An abysmal day for Fylde, a poor performance in all areas of the pitch and Sutton United close the gap to six points.

DF: I got it wrong, I underestimated the quality Sutton have. I have to blame Hadler for the first goal, god knows what he was doing when he knows he should be pumping that ball up for Ferguson or O'Neill or even getting it into the wide areas. We spoke about it at half time and got our views across. Hendo missed the pen and that just knocked our confidence further, before we knew it we were 2-0 down and had no chance back. It was poor, disappointing and humiliating.

FURTHER INJURY NEWS

When you think it couldn't get any worse for Fylde this week. Goalkeeper Tom Hadler is now reported to be out with a calf injury for two months and promising left back David Chester is also out for around the same length of time with a thigh injury. With seven fixtures coming up in October, Fylde really cannot afford any more injuries or suspensions.
