Recent reports were stating that the rest of the team didnt have to isolate. That would put a team, especially one fighting relegation, at a massive disadvantage. But also, imagine what would be going through the other players heads? Would they be able to focus properly in the game or would they be worried they might have it.

The relegation threatened clubs should be fighting these proposals at all costs as they are the ones with most to lose. Imagine West Ham for instance, with the ricidulous fixture list they have already proving an obstacle, to then lose 5 of their best players for a few weeks. They wouldnt stand a chance.

I think this is all true. On the point of the isolation, I mean it would be standard medical advice that anybody you have come into physical contact with needs to isolate for 2-3 weeks. Given how football and training works, that would need to be the entire squad. I mean you are touching the same balls, sitting on the same benches, maybe physical contact and sweat with the same players in training etc. If they didn't isolate everyone, then within a short space of time it will just spread like wildfire through the league again.

On talkSPORT now..... saying EFL and lower should maybe accept it can’t be completed but the premier league are gonna do all they can to finish. Honestly do these people actually hear what they are saying.

I think this is an acknowledgement that it's not feasible, and certainly not feasible with all 4 leagues. I mean it will be easier for those leagues to just follow the guidance given to Tier 5 and below, void the seasons, no promotions and relegations/champions.

I read that on the beeb today too - they casually dropped in that its the fans that want football back.

Do they? Don't most of the sensible ones have other priorities right now? It's the media beneficiaries who want it back, and the rs at the beeb using their position to influence opinion. Comments like that should only be borne of investigative journalism with data to back it up. A survey ffs - rather than thrown in as an opinion in a national media outlet.

i read an article yesterday from Germany where they have actually surveyed readers of their newspaper and it says that only 32% are in favour of football returning behind closed doors and that 60 sometching % want this season cancelled. That’s talking about the Bundesliga obviously.

City with no champions league, new signings and some luck with injuries will be a different proposition in my opinion.

And obviously Newcastle will be up there challenging after their takeover with Rafael back at the helm.

Unfortunately I don't honestly think we will get within 12 points of them again next season.
Almost all of their key players (with the exception of Milner) are at their prime age (26-29) and under 30yo.
The only elite player we have aged under 30 is De Bruyne. We have lost and not replaced Kompany.
David Silva leaves this year. Aguero is 32yo and whilst still lethal is very injury prone and Fernandinho is
getting a bit long in the tooth. If Klopp stays and they keep their team together along with the VAR calls
and officials on their side, as sad as I am to say it, I can't see anyone touching them again next season.

Makes sense. So you'd have a squad of players, taking it home to their families then passing it on to another squad of players who'll do the same....

There's absolutely no chance of any football in June in a country who have dealt so disastrously with the disease so far.

Just come off the phone to a good mate of mine. His wife runs a care home in Halifax. The son of the owner is a diver on the oil rigs.
He has had to totally self isolate and not come into any contact with any of his family who have recently visited the care home.
The reason being is that he has been totld that he if tests postitive for Covid-19 (even if he doesn't have any symptons) he can never
dive again. The reason being is that it will be impossible for him to get insurance as Covid-19 is a respiratory related condition.
It must be the same for footballers? I don't understand why they just don't say due to the risks we are not playing. End of.

I actually think it's all pie in the sky mate. Put it out there that we're doing everything we can so when it comes to the legal battle later we can prove we tried.

The plan to swab the players before a game is foolhardy. The false negative rate for the test is thought to be 30% and would probably be higher if you are testing a group of people without symptoms. That means that potentially 3 out of 10 players who have the virus will test negative. It has been demonstrated that people without symptoms spread the virus, and so it is possible (and I would say probable) that players and staff will transmit the virus to each other even if matches are played behind close doors. Sportsmen have a degree of immunocompromise due to their training. Individuals from BAME backgrounds are a high risk category and make up a significant proportion of players.

In view of this footballers should be some of the LAST professionals returning to work, not the first.

Not sure how Sky and the BBC are going to push this as the greatest league title triumph in the history of world football. How a team who hasn't spent a pound, dared to dream and somehow won the title against all the odds. A succession of VAR related goals against their main rivals and the ending being somewhat of a damp squib won't make the highlights package much of a watch..

It was an absolute godsend that Watford beat them when they did. Can you imagine if they were still unbeaten in the league?
No. Neither can I!

Quite true. The few times I've played golf I always used a different fairway to my competitors. I underwent a bitter divorce with the game (irreconcilable differences between where I wanted the ball to go and there the club wanted it).

That's why I just watch and don't play it mate. Does my head in the way the ball disobeys my masterful technique!
