Marcel Brands when he arrived in 2018 said that it was a long term project to get everything in place and it could be 4 or 5 years before all the benefits could have been seen! He took over us when we had over 40 players in 1st team squad and lets be honest, there was a lot of crap in it and all on serious money ;-( We had a squad with players of Moyes, Martinez, Koeman, Allardyce and Silva ;-(

He has brought in players like Digne, Gomes, Richarlison, Mina, Kean, Bernard, Gbamin and to lesser extent Iwobi and Delph !
He has send younger players like Holgate out on loan who has come back better and hopefully Kenny and Gibson will be the same Gibson stated the only reason he signed contract renewal was Brands gave him a clear idea of route into 1st team also and Kean was similar

Brands has moved on a lot of players, even if on loans, that were never suited to us and on crazy wages ;-( These were unhappy players too and better away from the club !

We as fans don't think about our club like a business or economic entity which it is in the modern world :-( The papers said we were after Zaha last summer for 90 million or whatever but because Iwobi was signed his crap etc :-( His been average admittedly but Zaha could have been same as Silva was an average Manager ;-( Now , we have Ancelloti, who is a proper TOP class Manager , and can and will work well with Brands ;-) Brand haters said he should have got CB? He had a couple in Italy lined up, Silva wanted Zouma so when Chelsea got banned we were screwed over but Holgate has become key player this year so sorry he did'nt leave us short ;-) Midfield, We signed Gomes fulltime, Gbamin and Delph to cover Gana leaving which was going to happen anyway but who could fore see 2 of the 3 getting long term injuries? but we also have Schneiderlin, Davis there too so sorry no need to buy even more midfielders until others shifted out ;-) Again we signed Kean, one of the worlds biggest potential stars but no its not enough ;-( We were playing with 1 up top and had DCL, Tosun and Naisse on books but no we need to sign experienced players like Danny bloody Ings by some on here for 35 million and 150,000 a week salary :-(

Everyone knew it would be a massive turnaround job when Brands arrived. We had a terrible squad with players on long contracts but none of them had any real value in the market. People now seem to be criticising Brands because he hasn’t made us successful immediately but the hard yards are being done every window from my perspective with dross heading out and better players heading in. We’ve been a bit unlucky (as always with Everton) with Gomes and Gbamin missing nearly the entire season, and Delph and Iwobi also missing large portions.

We’re on a far better direction with players like Richarlison Digne Gomes Calvert Lewin Holgate than we were before with Rooney Bolaise Siggurdson Klaasen etc. A couple more windows and we’ll run off the end of the five year mark from Koeman’s disastrous 2017 window and hopefully see the end of the likes of Siggurdson Schneiderlin Bolasie Keane Tosun etc. It will take time though.

Well said, we all have our own opinions and I’m sure some will agree and some will strongly disagree. I think we should of got a CB in 110% and never even considered iwobi, as well forgetting zaha after his price tag went over £35m but there my opinions, on a overall brands is doing ok but I think myself and a lot of people find it confusing is to what he does exactly and why we have a DOF when we have such a good manager. Surely the new manager would chose if he wants to work with one and who it’s going to be?
