Club Statement: Coronavirus

The talk is that the virus may peak in mid/late April, it is hoped. But it will still be around and the restrictions could still be in place for many weeks after that so can you gather a team of players, manager and coaches together and be 2 meters apart?

Indeed - even working off the best case scenario that the Virus has past by June, I can't get my head around when and how football becomes a priority again. If it is only safe enough to play behind closed doors ( I dont think this will happen) there is an argument that the policing and ambulance required to manage football is not one that can be spared.

If it is full crowds, how do you give green light? Surely there would have to be tests of the impact of Smaller gatherings, slowly measuring the risk of coronavirus before considering Football matches running all over the country with attendances totaling 500k plus on a Saturday

Good post mate.

One important point in this by peaking, they mean getting the daily increase down toward 10% a day. In Italy that is several hundred people a day. It's really not a time to be complacent. I think in lay terms, avoiding it's peak, just means avoiding a collapse of our NHS. Thats a win in this situation.

My Work from Home just got extended to end of April. There's no way anyone will be wanting to be out in a crowd until midsummer at the earliest.

Id say so - but then again if that is right, there is no stopping teams working to a date in advance of it July 24th for example. 8 weeks to wrap up the season at that stage, rolling into a slightly amended season the year after.

I still believe when all this bottoms out, Euro 2021 will move again to match Qatar 2022 and there will be two Jan - Oct season in between, but it all remains absolute guesswork

Just no. There’s no chance they will play a full qtr of a season and follow it immediately with a fresh one.

You’ve swerved the contract issue, and the entire transfer window btw.

Also why will the Euros be moved again? And the dates for the Qatar WC are already set middle of November though to the week before Christmas.

June 30th will be the cut off otherwise it goes in the skip. Vault me.

Not suggesting they would, suggesting if they see out 2020 by end November, 4-6 break before a green light for a 2021 season, which could break for euros or euros could move for it.

To answer why would the Euros move again, I ask why not? Everything is open for shifting whenever we get back to a new normal

Re June 30th, it appears to have become a date in the sand, but reality is no one has a clue what's next & unless you have clarity on the timeline of Covid19 you are as in the dark as the rest of us.

Move the Euros to when and just why? Screw up the next 2 seasons and the now already moved Euros just so dem red men can finish their ‘special’ season?

Behave ffs.

Their special season is irrelevant at this stage, the entire focus will be on getting European football back on track as quickly & profitably as possible. I dont think anything will happen for the PL independently of anywhere else, Uefa will look to unify the calendars to manage transfer windows, major tournaments etc.

All I am saying (as per my very first point in this thread) is IF Football is ready to play circa Sept time & IF the decision is to play out seasons Europe wide, one thing that might happen is move the Euros again to November 2021, the same time of year as Qatar 2022 meaning you would have.....

Sept - nov 2020 finish all leagues across Europe
Jan - Oct - new 2021 season followed by euros
Jan - Oct - new 2022 season followed by WC
2023 & 2024 move back to the traditional Aug to May season

Again I am saying this could be a solution, not the solution

also voiding this season and starting next season "Up in the Air" with law suits hanging over it will also be screwing up two seasons wont it?

The interpretation (and it is) you made was saying the league is on hold to try to ensure Liverpool win it.

The fact is, you would rather void it and Liverpool not inevitably win the league than continue when safe to do so. You're not being objective at all.

Alright, calm down, stop crying, it's only a game of football ffs, nobody in the world cares about football right now except you bunch of losers

So we should shunt the entire football calendar for the next 3 1/2 years, including moving the Euros to the winter and having a fallow period of no football for 8 months at the start of 2023, merely so dem red men can finish der most special season ever?

I see.

Get back to rawk mate ffs.
