Club Statement: Coronavirus

But it doesn't, that's the entire point. You could for example have a 19 game mini season next year (draw for H/A) with everyone agreed to revised conditions in advance, if that what the calendar requires to get on track again.

My entire point is 19/20 has to be linked to 20/21 & the argument of void this season and just carry on is rubbish, whenever football resumes, even if its in12 months time, they won't start next season without resolving this one. RS the least of the issues, top 4; relegation, promotion and TV rights will end up in the courts
Whichever club decides to turn to court to enforce a game of togger, with a backdrop of thousands of deaths, should be lambasted by the media and all right thinking people.

Italy has needed two weeks of lockdown just to start to see the curve decreasing, it would then need to be maintained beyond that just to ensure the curve keeps going down. We could easily be looking at 6 week lockdown as a minimum. That would be the middle of May before players could even think about getting out of their houses let alone going back to training.

wuhan was in lockdown for 2 months and they shut down earlier than Italy in terms of cases..

Hi all, long standing lurker and forum member here.
I work within a local intensive care unit, what is heading towards us is truly terrifying, we’ve literally emptied out any patients who are remotely anywhere near being able to leave.

Staff with critical care experience are being redeployed back years after leaving, retired staff are being asked to come back.

We have 15 ventilations on order to make us a fully ventilated unit, patients unlikely to survive are not going to come to us.

I’ve just done four nights, can’t sleep, and have a Chrisis meeting in six hours time.

Anyone thinking about how infair this is to whatever club is currently winning the league can do one, it’s beyond what anyone in their right mind should be in any way able to care or about.

We’ve just had all our annual leave cancelled in order to survive.

I’m a Diabetic type 1 diabetic who’s being warned not to take any risks, we have COVID +ve patients, I was assisting with the intubation of a potential possible patient only a few hour ago, and have two young children home.

If I was of a particular persuasion I’d post YAWN.

But im not. This is real

if the football callender was to restart, the fact it even came into discussion or passed would be an unsult to myself and my colleges! It really doesn’t matter
Thank you for all your efforts and that goes for all of your colleagues on the front line. You are totally correct, we shouldn't even be discussing football matters. I know that sounds hypocritical, seeing as I'm on here now, but it's just a diversion from the terrible situation we find ourselves in. Football has no real significance at the present time, and imo it will be along time before it becomes relevant again.

What if some clubs don't exist any more after all this.
This isn't just the PL. The whole pyramid needs taking into account.

If the same teams aren't able to complete the season then it's null and void.

This isn't a Bury situation as they hadn't played anyone.

Yeah, the Premier league clubs have a lot of money, further down the pyramid, this could hit a lot of clubs hard. My local team are top of the Conference with a chance of getting back into the football league since I think the 60's(not looked) That sucks and that's if financially those type of teams can survive without gate money.

The PL has 1.5 billion set aside for emergencies so they will be ok.
Should be against the rules to have that for the elite when smaller clubs are struggling, even before this outbreak.
I can see football and top clubs in particular not coming out of this in a very good light.

I would agree - but it will still happen despite the media scorn, especially when it comes to TV money, which is $ 4 billion dollars a season.

the desire from many, including impartial watchers of footy, will have their desire for talking football blunted as we will be faced with scenes of sports halls full of coffins, harrowing scenes of desperately ill people on hospital beds/corridors, and after weeks and weeks of isolation, we will want to put the past behind us. Football rightly won't be far up on many people's list of things to worry about. Sadly, many of us on here are going to lose family and friends to this virus before this year is out, indeed, we will lose some of our friends and contributors to the site. Football doesn't matter.
Sadly my friend, that is the sombre truth. I hope that the impact is as little as possible.

If we want to be good Evertonians, help everyone you can and worry about football later.

Place were I've been working has been in contact with the government over placing temporary morgues on their land. Maybe people will realise the severity of this situation.

Serious question mate, bearing in mind you're about to see a World Cup played in December in Qatar in the not too distant future, how do you propose the league accommodate that?

Is it to be a mid-season World Cup? Or will the calendars be adjusted to ensure the prior domestic season(s) finish in October / November time?

No such thing as a wrong answer on that one, just interested to hear your opinion.
I said early doors they'll end up staggering it all to the Qatar WC, then take another 2 seasons un staggering it back for an August 2025 KO

Think this is a possibility, all so uncertain with everything else that’s going on in the world right now. They’ll have to do something, I just can’t see how a mid-season World Cup would work, would certainly be less of a spectacle.
