Cancelling this season's Premier League

Should football be canceled until August and this season declared null and void?

Playing games in empty stadiums does not keep players safe, only fans obviously.

I’ll be surprised if we see a 20/21 season start on time this year never mind this season finishing.

exactly, when people will just pile to the pubs or in the case of the weirdos accross the way they’ll be outside the stadium in their droves which in turn will cause a massive burden on emergency services etc at a time when they’ll already have been stretched to far beyond their breaking point. People are still not grasping the seriousness of the situation. I wonder if there would be this much attention still being given to football by the media if it were Man City at the top of the league. I very much doubt it.

Good point this
If people were going to starve to death then yes you would probably have to risk Corona.
But we are talking football. We love the game but it’s just not that important.
In other jobs people are being encouraged to work from home, yet some people think footballers should run around spraying sweat on each other.

nobody will kick a ball, that's for sure, can't believe some think here that there will some football before August. So yeah it will be cancelled but not sure with voiding it/crowning them bit. Logic says they won't get anything that but RS lobby is powerful

Government advice...dont go the pub.
Premier league..we are going to play games at neutral venues but live stream on tv.
As pointed out I think we all see the flaw in that proposal.
Also as previous posters have said why would we play them at Villa park or similar.? We train on a pitch that mirrors Goodisons. We lose any even slight advantage.

That’s his presidency not being renewed. WTF does he think he’s doing? Bullets in the post.

Maybe bullets in the post, but I suspect he has had contact with the leagues to make such a statement. What I am gathering from this, is that 4 of the 5 main leagues are easily in board with this, otherwise it would be completely reckless to say so otherwise.

As soon as one league voids, the dominos will fall. I'd suggest people ignore the inevitable virtue signalling that will go on this week by the PL and recognise the bigger picture.

Just adding in, and I know I'm writing a lot, but that EFL statement is really damning for Liverpool.

There is absolutely no mention whatsoever of finishing the season at all costs. Everything on finishing the season is countenanced with "within a time period" and "subject to safety".

Essentially they are saying they want to finish the season, by June 30th, as long as it's safe to do so (so a massive turnaround needed).

There's not even a part where they are saying they want to explore special options for extending the season or contracts.
