Cancelling this season's Premier League

Should football be canceled until August and this season declared null and void?

Trying to think...who would be the best person to give the press conference saying that the season has been voided?

You could go for an elder statesman: sir alex for example.
Or owing to the tv implications: neville and carragher would make it amusing I'm sure.

I've no doubt, someone, somewhere, somehow will make sure they win the title. Whether that be because they get the season up and running behind closed doors, or they give it to them because they are in front.

Make no mistake, this is the rs we are talking about, spawn of the devil.

The likes of Dogleish, Aldo the pigeon Fiddler saying it must be finished and then a selfish ego driven knobhead like VVD saying its not fair if we have to win it behind closed doors.......they simply aren't arsed as long as they get their hands on it.

The longer this goes on, the more embarrassing they will get and in turn the shine of the achievement will be gone.

Sky pundits.

They are rounding up every bugger they can find to make the case for the RS to be crowned champions.

One fellow went as far as to say getting the football back, even behind closed doors, to get them crowned would and I quote here, "give people a lift in the midst of all the gloom and people dying".

Guaranteed now they would dedicate their title win to everyone who lost their lives...they'll sing YNWA pretending that they give a damn about that over them getting their little trophy... SKY commentary will say that was the most emotional moment in Premier league history, a fitting mark of respect... Thank you Liverpool for bringing light back into people's life's again, no matter which club you support....Klopp and VVD will speak about how they hadn't even thought about whether the season would be finished, all they cared about was people's well being, if the season was cancelled with no winner they wouldn't have minded one bit... Blah blah blah...

It doesn't really matter.

Liverpool have clearly released the hounds. Carragher, Ollie Holt and all the other cultists are now lobbying for them to be given the title. I find it absolutely reprehensible that a club would put personal glory before the health of the nation. Everyone in this country is already being affected and we are just at the start. This is bigger than football, about time the fans of a certain club realised that.

It would be nice if they would wheel out some Man United, Man City, Everton, Arsenal and Spurs ex players. You know just to make it a bit more balanced, it this was anyone else apart from maybe Man United, this would not have been a debate, just a pat on the back and a bad luck lads statement.

If Liverpool are awarded the title, and we can't have a 22-team league in 2020/21 for some reason (I propose an eight-team EFL Champ playoff, based either on current standings or the median finishing position/# of previous playoff apps) then the relegation issue should be sorted like voluntary redundancy.

Teams currently in the bottom three can either take a "voluntary relegation" and receive double the usual parachute payments (every other club chips in some revenue). Or they can go into a mini-league and play off, whereby their parachute payments will be regular if they go down.

Again though, I cannot stress enough, this is only if it is TOTALLY, COMPLETELY impossible to have a 22-team PL next year. With the RS as designated league winners, but the trophy staying put at Eastlands.

That way I don't become long-term unemployed and I don't have to see Shergar et al lift the trophy.

Crap

Just had a thought, regarding betting, IF the season is cancelled, I wonder what will happen to all the outstanding / ante-post bets etc? Betfair Exchange alone has around £14,000,000 in unsettled matched bets on the Premier League winner market. If the season is cancelled, will these be voided? If you’d backed Liverpool early in season at decent odds then you’d be pretty pissed off if so lol.

Also what about bets already “settled” as losers? Would punters have a case for trying to get their money back if the season was cancelled? Maybe I haven’t lost the £50 that I ludicrously placed on Everton to be 2019/2020 champions after all...

In all seriousness though, bigger picture, this could open up a gigantic can of worms for the whole industry if so.

Ive said it before, I would just give the title to the RS because as my RS mate said “it would just be a hollow title”

Essentially this guarantees Sunderland stay in League One and tips the club into financial ruin.

Who cares about the title?
