Lads don't do it to yourselves

Big Red will be awarded the title & we'll be stuck with WHU and Villa for another year atleast.

Mate they will not. Put your negative energy to something a bit more realistic like if all of a sudden the virus will stop and the league will start back up next month.

I’m pessimistic when it comes to Liverpool. But no one is going to let them give a premier league they didn’t win. It doesn’t make any sense. They would have to relegate teams that are not relegated. Or if they didn’t do that and just award the league and cancel all the other outcomes it would be an even bigger farce. There’s deep paranoia about how favoured they are then there’s this.

Exactly, I just don't see how Liverpool would have any leg to stand on thinking they've won this league as it stands.

Yeh it's very, very unlikely they'd lose it but losing 4 games in 7 was very, very unlikely for them this season and it happened, it was very, very unlikely Leicester would win the PL but they did.

And crucially if this ends up in the courts (which if the PL start awarding things based on standings after 28 games) it will simply not stand up. It will look what it is (corruption without precedent).

What they also have to realise is, you can't award Liverpool the title without making a decision on relegation. Those things will be tied in together. In all honesty, Liverpool would be far more defendable, but you won't be able to do so with relegation and the 2 will be tied in together. Cancelling it all makes it a lot easier.

Yup. If the league is void not postponed and the only thing decided is the title then I think people would have every reason to believe in bias/corruption.

Liverpool deserve the title. I dont care if they get awarded it. It would be an anomaly. Not a real title.

The season should only be finished if it can be done so by mid summer at the latest, and more importantly, if it is safe to do so.

Until then we need to wait and see.

That's your area of expertise? lol

The most watched and attended sporting events of all time are played in the summer lol

The Olympics, World Cup, Cricket, Tour De France, Wimbledon.

If people stay in, they are watching sport. If people go on holiday, they are watching sport in bars. if they go out, they are watching them in a beer garden.

It really doesn't matter when they host this stuff, people will watch it.
Yes that’s my area of expertise. As in I work in that industry. I’m not sure why that’s funny?

The World Cup is not the same as the PL. At all. Those audience figures are all on public service channels, the audiences are higher for that (very obvious) reason. Families watch England play France in an international tournament, old women watch it, little kids watch it. Even my wife watches it. They don’t watch a relegation six pointer on sky though. And if it’s in July, neither do I.

Do you think mate that will be the eventual outcome or your not sure?

As with all these things it's really hard to say, as you are dealing with lots of unknowns at present. I would predict they will try to do everything they can to play games. There may be pressure placed upon players to stay in contracts beyond June. These are very difficult to achieve though (but not impossible).

If the virus doesn't get markedly better over the next 6 weeks, I think the discussion is going to move to whats the best way to manage it legally. Within that context, voiding the league and repeating it makes most sense.

It's going to get really messy though.

Whats crucial with this, is there is no history of PL footballer in the summer. Viewers patterns of behaviour are not set in to that. Of course there will be a hard core who watch it, but the soft core it attracts, I am doubtful.

Exactly. Winter football works. Successful brands do not move away from what works and try the unknown, it’s not a sound business plan.

10-14 weeks is its peak, which means end of June could be when we’re seeing a downtrend.

Assuming it takes 4 further weeks to clear, we’re talking end of July, to get players fit, and ready to play 9 games, for a season to end in August ready for a December start.

It isn’t feasible, to restart it. I’d like a refund, but if the club were to donate my money to the players in the lower leagues so they could afford to live, id be fine too.

lives are more than football.

It's preferable to throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

This would the first domino to fall. I sense this would be Liverpool's argument too. Just hand us the title and forget about everything else. The exact sort of scab mentality we have come to expect from that club.

Unfortunately for them it won't work like that. Believe me, the moment the PL make any kind of declaration based upon this season Pandoras box is opened. Leeds and West Brom are going to say they should be allowed to come up. Fulham will say the same as the third place team. Teams 3-6 will say they planned to finish strong, catch them and should therefore be promoted. Probably 10 sides in the championship will say they deserve the right to compete in the play offs. They would all have strong cases.

Worst case scenario you have to promote 2 teams and have a lengthened season in what will be a tighter time frame.

In the PL sides are going to get into a massive bunfight about who deserves European football. Expect Leicester and Spurs to both pipe up in different directions. I would even expect us to make a case, that given our post Silva form, and how close to we are to European places we should also be launching a civil action.

Thats just me, off the top of my head. I'm sure legal advisors for other clubs will be thinking well beyond that and politely letting the PL know. I mean the inference I get from Brady, is that she will let the PL know she is not expecting any relegation this season. However it's hard to see how you can't have relegation and declare the league invalid on one hand, but on the other state you can have valid champions. It doesn't work that way.
