Unfortunately for Liverpool you are wrong.

The Premier League handbook is very clear:

The League champions are the team at the top of the table at the end of the season.

In each season, every club must play each other club twice, home and away. (This is the first rule).

If that cannot be fulfilled then the season cannot end and there cannot be a League Champion.

We'll see but I suspect that they will be given it even though we all want the opposite

Why? Why can't we stop it and continue it down the line? What about that process is difficult or unsafe?

When society is ready to safely return to normality and large-scale events like Football matches continue, why couldn't it simply continue then?

That may be weeks, with 1st week of April being put forth by the Prem and EFL, or it could be months.

If the authorities deemed it safe to do so, and the season continued in late May or June, why would that be problematic do you think?

OR

Is it simply just that you would prefer it to be voided?

So when is the new Season mate? When are the players resting? Training? When’s they’re break?

Look just bin this season like it never existed happy happy happy

The peak of this virus is 10-14 weeks away here according to our own Govt.

The season couldn’t be extended beyond the end of June, due to players contracts ending on the 30th.
So beyond that date, it would cease to be the same competition.

If by some miracle it’s deemed safe to play again in May then it can complete, but that’s extremely unlikely.

Depends when all this ends. The Euro's are already getting swerved to 2021 now.

In a normal league season, the players would return to playing in August for the new season.

What would be so terrible if the new season began in October or November instead to allow for all the rest, break and training they need?

Not arsed if they get awarded the title. Wont be a real title and I'll take much pleasure in reminding them.

This, don’t know why people care. The season will still be voided and it’ll be the only thing that has been “decided”, so it’s not even a real season. In some ways that’d be even funnier, and proper patronising and head patting for them. Like giving a kid a sticker when they’ve been the dentist.

Because then every subsequent season needs to do that, then the CL schedule messes up, ALL European major leagues would need to agree to this shift.

Nothing particularly wrong with the idea

But the practical problem is teams have players whose contracts end in june and there would be obvious issues there. I'd imagine if we do get the league done, it will have to be finished no later than 30 June.

Edit: And what @Nymzee says

Theres no straightforward answer.

Clutching. This is simply not true.

For starters, how many players who's contract expires in June are playing regularly this season? My guess is not many.

Secondly, due to unforeseen, sensitive, extenuating circumstances, how many of those players would be unwilling to temporarily extend their playing contract to allow the end of the current season to finish? Transfer windows would probably shift to re-align with the new season start date anyway, so there would be no benefit in them leaving their clubs early.

It wouldn't be problematic whatsoever to extend a few contracts by 3 or 4 months for the very few players that applies to.

"As revealed by Telegraph Sport last month, there is no regulation governing what happens if the 2019-20 campaign is curtailed. But a senior club executive revealed on Friday night that there was little opposition to awarding Jurgen Klopp’s men their first English title for 30 years following what threatened to be the longest suspension of the professional game since the Second World War.

Leaders Liverpool are 25 points clear of second-placed Manchester City and two more victories for the Anfield club will give them the title. Such is the gap that there is no appetite among their rivals to deny them the crown."

Its not their rivals who get to decide though is it.

Aren't all European major leagues postponed at present for precisely the same reason?

Therefore it won't present a problem whatsoever. They will all agree to resume play roughly around the same time, in line with guidance from their own FA's and UEFA.

Short term contracts and scheduling appears to be everyone's main issue and it's the most simple thing in the world to overcome, especially given that it was being adjusted for the World Cup anyway.

Just be clear and say you want it voided for bants. It's fine, everyone gets it.

Probably not Mac, no, but I can see a situation where the Prem tell teams that they're going to give them the title in order to figure out one problem unless there are objections

No one will object on the basis that they are 543 points clear
