Still have to complete the fixtures or agree an abridged fixture list by my reading. And i can't see what's in that for anybody not currently in a European spot or currently in the bottom 3.

The sight of them being desperate enough to go to court to get their hands on a trophy would be hilarious, though.

In the rules it's the Premier League board that decides it I believe.

Albeit in this circumstance it wouldn't be because of a suspended club due to financial reasons, which is what that clause is actually for.

But if the board come up with fixtures and clubs don't compete, the board will decide how it could be treated. e.g. give the 3-0 win to the side who turn up or whatever.

Although at that point the legal ramifications would be insane.

Teams, realistically who will want it cancelled:

Us
City
Spurs
Anyone in danger of relegation fight

Not canceled:

Trickys
Arsenal - Want to be in CL, not EL
United - Same as above
Leicester - want to be in Europe in either comp

16 plays 4. Majority in my book

Arsenal will want it cancelled, Sheff Utd and Wolves won’t. Newcastle won’t as well because they’re Liverpool’s pets.

the thing is, if they void it and say "all the teams who were in europe last season will take their places again" - city have a european ban, so who would replace them? the team who finished 5th last season? they can't say the team currently in 5th this season if they're saying it's all null and void.

We honestly could see it either way really, we're still in with a chance of europe this season, if it's null, we're losing out because that means another season definitely without europe, but that of course doesn't change if they keep the table as is. But there's still a chance of europe if the season continues. But does our club want europe?

I think Sheff U and Wolves would be added to the not cancelled list, plus Chelsea who have retained CL status. City might even want their league cup win to be valid. Think it would be difficult to get 14 in favour of voiding.

The league cup competition has completely finished tho, why would that become invalid?

Regardless, I'm pretty sure City would trade that league cup for the chance of winning a 3rd prem title in a row

Nobody is choosing to cancel or delay this, as the case may be, for sporting reasons.

If the situation allows, the season would continue as normal. The Premier League and EFL have seen sense and decided this isn't the case, delaying everything for 3 weeks. If it isn't safe by that date, then it will be delayed until such a time as it can continue. If, come June / July the season still can't re-start safely because of the virus, then there's an exceptional chance it will be cancelled and voided.

It's insensitive and disingenuous to push for an immediate cancellation just because it suits your agenda or the agenda of other clubs, rather than for the safety and health concerns that is the ultimate reason for this.

Fair point on the City ban.

Really is unprecedented so who knows. I don't trust the PL to come out this looking good either way.

I was told that Everton along with a couple of others, were keen to push through suspending the season, before Boris came out last night.
Not in the know, but if true, it’s nice to see that if true, the club actually care about their fans.
Don Carlo hates the RS
