Not having read every last word of this thread (sorry) it's possible that someone else may already have said this, but if we're so skint that we let Pienaar go, and can't afford to replace him despite the salary saving and three million quid coming in, then it's just as well he didn't have a last-minute change of heart and sign the improved contract we offered him. If he had, we'd have had no £3million windfall, and also had to pay out a substantial additional amount in his improved wages. Wonder where we'd have been then - presumably desperately touting Jagielka to Arsenal, or Rodwell to Man U.

English Transfers REQUIRE ACTUAL LEGAL TENDER ...
