The media are peddling out doom and gloom stories left, right and centre - the last headline I saw was "Potential crisis at Everton as angry fans descend on training to confront chief".

It made me think - all considered, with Ancelotti, Moshiri and Brands - how optimistic are you as an Everton fan for the future?

Its not about Ancelotti, Moshiri or Brand. It's the players. We have got a very poor squad, too many players who go through the motions.

Season is over. I’ll be optimistic when they go out and buy some good footballers who play good togger and work hard and get rid of the spoofers bleeding the club dry.

Probably the worst result in the club's modern history on Sunday but even if you put that to one side I'm still pesimistic. Ancelotti is a hell of a coup for the club but I'm skeptical about how it will all work out. Our problem is that even if we get things right we are still competing with 7 other teams who right now we are inferior to. The squad is terrible considering the money we've spent, Liverpool are the best team in the country if not Europe and we haven't won a trophy for 25 years. Happy days.

Im optimistic because Ive got to be..running on empty (otherwise..health etc.) Im hanging onto the thought that Carlo Ancelotti will straighten us out over the next few months. We need to cough up the phlegm of that nightmare show on Sunday and hope its going to be some sort of watershed. Ask questions of the players...tell them to sort themselves out. They cant pass, tackle, cross, take corners without arguing or success or conviction. So get some chemistry going at Finch Farm for Christs sake..stop ego stroking them and show them some footage of what the club means to us..the heartbeat of EFC.

Ps..while youre there... can we eradicate the naive flesh-eating habit of doling out Golden Handshake long term deals to these feeble excuses for professional footballers at source... untried. And if not totally, make them watertight conditions-wise..see Schneiderlin's disciplining yonks back for "not trying in training" - but hes still here stealing wages ever since sans censure ?

Even with this stinking squad and being at rock bottom we're mid table in the league and got to the 1/4 finals of the league cup. The likes of the rs and City are so far ahead that they've disappeared over the horizon.

But where were city 10 years ago? 15 years ago? Even a well set up lesser light in Leicester came out of nowhere to win the league.

I don't know what the tipping point will be that turns it around, probably a few of the worst most toxic malingerers out and a few harder working and/ or technically better players in the first team and it'll be like night and day. I'm more confident now that Ancelotti is here. Brands can't afford another transfer window like last summer, and I suspect the first one he had would've gone better if those incoming players had not been under Silva.

Moshiri? Honestly don't know. A lot of focus on the stadium and maybe not enough on the playing side of things. Hopefully if that is the case he'll have been bought back to concentrating on the on field stuff.

Optimism? Maybe prepared for a long hard slog is more like it. Don't think it's going to be a barrel of laughs for a while.

I won’t be able to think rationally and sensibly until Gylfi Sigurdsson has left the club I’m afraid.

We have been an awful team since he joined us. We were sort of okay before he got here. Koeman's first season was acceptable - We qualified for Europe. Enter Sigurdsson, and it all goes to pot.

How much is he on? Is it more than everyone else? Is this causing resentment?

We don't function as a team when he is on the pitch, and the attitude of the players has stunk since he got here.

Gbamin, Richarlson, Gomes and Pickford other than that I wouldn't be too upset to see everyone else sold or let away on a free, massive clear out and rebuild needed and I'm not sure we'll have the funds to do it while keeping within the rules of FFP. We have one of the greatest managers ever and the players still manages to serve up one of the worst Everton performances ever and then had the neck to blame the tactics. This gutless bunch of useless cowards have been constantly rubbish under a number of managers so what was the excuse when they weren't preforming under Koeman? What was the excuse when they weren't preforming under Silva? There's a lot of bad eggs on our playing staff and they need punting. Start with Gilfi and Morgan.

The RS infested media are praying for their double nirvana becoming a reality - them finally winning the league after 30 years and us spiralling into oblivion.
If Carlo signed Messi and Mbappe tomorrow the headlines would all be loaded with negative spin.
You'd wonder how much of today's news is just RS mischief in the media.

Im incredibly optimistic. Great teams in any sport, and great businesses are all run by having the right people in charge. Its not even about who the owner is, but that the owner understands, as one put it "the importance of hiring people smarter than you". Its about those that lead the organization right below the owner. If the right ones are brought in, while it takes time, often years to see full results, those results can last for a decade or two. The two most important pieces to a club are its manager and who finds and negotiates for players. I believe we finally have the two best ones we have had in a long time here, so Im very optimistic about the future.

Im not naive enough to think Don Carlo can get us in a champions league spot, but I do think he can get us into Europe this season, and after the summer transfer window set the team up to legitimately compete for 4th for the first time in a long time.

Sorry guys, after everything that has transpired over the last few days regarding players, I voted pessimistic.

I believe 100% in Ancelotti and Brands, and even Moshiri (triple that if Usmanov's onboard) - however, right here, right now, we have a group of footballers who are an absolute disgrace to the club!

Players like Dixie Dean, Kendall, Ball, and all the other great deceased players, must be literally turning in their graves! Others that are thankfully still with us - the greats from the 60's, 70's and 80's must be just besides themselves that certain players that are representing the club in the same positions that they so fantastically, gracefully and professionally did - are basically sticking two fingers up at the fans, management and club, its infuriating, and they are taking the p*** (sorry for cussing)

Players like Delph, Sigurdsson, Schneiderlin and Walcott are woefully short of skill as players, have ridden their luck and MASSIVE paychecks and basically been along for the ride and got away with murder for WAY too long. Their are others, about 7-8 of them who fall short in quality, and no need to name them here.....but now they have been, and will be found out. If we had gone for the managerial quality of Ancelotti, and backroom figures like Brands way back when Moyes was fired we would not be in the disastrous mess that we are in now. Worse, we continued to go that rout, Martinez-Koeman (with Walsh) -Allardyce-Silva......FFS we ONLY just learned our lesson??

Of course hindsight is blinded, and their is no guarantee with any managerial or backroom appointment that success will come, but it surely would not have led us to the group of players we have now.

I'm so disheartened with our team/players right now its not even a joke. The deadwood MUST be got rid off - the 4 players I have mentioned above MUST really never play for Everton again. That wish wont come true, but we need to try and get rid, ASAP!

So, my vote would change if we could somehow over the next 12 months - replace 8-9 starting players with people of real quality, at least players that TRY!

To be honest my expectations are rock bottom currently.

We have the best owner we could
We have the best DoF we could
We have the best manager we could

And I still feel as tho we are broken beyond repair.
My sentiments entirely. That shambolic performance on Sunday has knocked the wind out of my sails, hopefully a couple of wins and a couple of incomings/outgoings will give me more clarity. At the moment, my heart isn't in it.

It has been a crushing few days. I hoped we could see the return of a feelgood factor to the end of the season but Sunday ended that.

Now it's in-fighting, angry fans, arguments, record financial losses, and some people questioning Ancelotti.

We are close to being if not actually a full-blown laughing stock and the vermin can't contain themselves.

I do get the feeling that this time it's different and a line has been drawn but that means nothing if they don't learn very obvious lessons.

I have felt far worse after games than Sunday but the narrative has gone off a cliff since then. People either feel sorry for us, or have the sort of contempt that is reserved for something that is irreparably useless.

I hope and expect that this is par for the course as far as Ancelotti is concerned and expect the labour pains of the new Everton might be quite extreme.

I thought we needed Gordon Ramsay in the dressing room on Sunday afterwards. Just get a bloody grip Everton.
