If it's a loan, that's the biggest signal thus far that our club is well and truly buggered.

There's zero point behind a loan, unless it's with a view to a permanent deal.

I'd guess that was the case. Maybe we want to see how he compares to Duffy, for example, in the English game, before paying a fee?

Article deffo sez it's a loan from SP to us, and that he will return to them on 30th June, and that he has a contract with SP til 2013 - no confusion whatsoever there.

Guess the question is whether that's just a fob to their fans? But if the Lcab / tht version is that we've bought the lad and he will be loaned back to them until the end of the season, they're surely gonna be wondering wot the fook he's doin hangin around there...

Dunno, all I know is that the Everton OS is being refreshed to death by thousands of Evertonians right about now!

This says he will play in the reserves.

Sporting Announced the loan from Everton junior Eric Dier Until The End of the season. The young central English will thus have an opportunity to evolve into a more challenging league.

The player of 17 years, which has a contract with the Lions until 2013, should therefore play in the reserves of the Goodison Park club until June 30, 2011.

Seems strange if we have loaned him, I mean why would we loan someone who is going to be playing in the reserves, I mean if he did play for the first team, wouldn't it be better for us to play one of our own centre-backs? Maybe it means we have first refusal on him if or when he moves? Bizzare, and it doesn't help that the OS doesn't say anything.

Getting a tad bit worried now with the inactivity. Are we waiting for the sale of Johnny to free funds, if so, Wheater would have been a good replacement, with a profit coming out of it too, yet hes gone to Bolton.

We were linked heavily with Hammill too but that ship has sailed. Just gettin worried that by the time the funds have been freed for Moyes, for loans or signings, that his targets will have already been nabbed, and hel be left scraping the bottom of the barrell.

If this lad from Sporting is only a loan, very strange:(:(
