Pienaar Signs for Spurs...

You're so right though Chico- should have seen this coming when he initially wanted top dollar circa 45k coming on loan Summer 2007. Know he eventully backed down and accepted mid 30's but high opinion of himself is not the word- wanted to be top dog as a failed Bundesliga misfit (doubt any of our flock were on over 45k 4 years ago looking at the wage bill that year- so the jigsaw of that, only wanting the 3 year deal and the agent carp on here, which I'm sorry I missed- all add up to a mercenary of undefined terms- as you say run down your contract fine-plenty of peeps in the game do it, but the Arthur Daley wideboy tactics shows him up big time- his agent and arry in a room- those paper bags are gonna get mixed up faster than his twitch.

A lot of this is very astute.

WE outted the agent on GrandOldTeam.

It was rather illuminating - after the interviews criticising EFC only the day before on Sky Sports News they were on here...

Pienaar's Agent-Snide: Outted as a Snide by the Clique.

The positive is that there's enough demand for his services for clubs to offer us cash now rather than risking losing him. It doesn't bother me where he goes as long as it's a good deal for us. I personally feel that, although he works hard, he never provided enough goals or assists and, by drifting inside, he very often left Baines exposed. We were a stepping stone for him. So long and thanks for the memories. I'd now like to see Bily step up and make the left side his own.

If we had offered the same money Atreta was on and he accepted it I'm sure we would all be feeling very happy now.

It is the board who have caused this nonsense.

That's my belief....

Its been argued he wasnt THAT good and didnt deserve that, and why he turned down Chelsea....but if you want to keep good players or attract them, you pay the money IMO.

If not, you take one step forward and two steps back every season...which is what we do.

He wants to go to spurs?

Now he's ruining his career. Sorry Pienaar, your angels have got it wrong bro.

Spurs is where careers are ruined. Just ask David Bentley,Kyle Naughton,Jermaine Jenas,Wilson Palacios,Vedran Corluka.

They are the most confused side in the league. They don't know if they need someone or not so they just get them there and if it doesn't work out, you rot there.

He got his wages...he's happy.

I think he's more of the Heitinga school of loyalty. I'm sure that money is important, but I think that we're a stepping stone to the big time. He wants to be earning big money at a big club. I don't think we're any more than a fallback, even if we could up our offer.

He's been with us 4 seasons...that's a decent amount of time to be with us IMO

He's put the shifts in even though he's been leaving for a while, we haven't lost out a huge amount on him so good luck to him.

I honestly feel he will struggle to hold a regular place as most teams above us, but I wish him the nest as he's been a decent servant.

Let's not drag ourselves down to the level of other blerts who think every player MUST be loyal to us no matter what. Sure, he may be chasing the cash, but most of us would do the same if it wasn't our boyhood club.

If we get £3m i will be more than happy with the outcome given the other options.

Good luck Stevie P and thanks for some good memories.

And so say all of us (well me anyway). I think some here should calm down a take a few deep breaths.

Has it really been that long? I just checked Wiki and they're reporting the mythical £6m offer. Back to the point...he's 28 now and at his peak. He's going to want to test himself at the highest level and ensure his financial future. I don't think he's as mercenary as Heit appears to be, but I don't think he's seriously considered sticking with us either.

with the direction we seem to be going and the stage of his career that he is at you cant blame him for moving to a team who has a chance to win something. he signed a contract for x years and he hasnt forced a transfer. im pretty sure there is nothing in his contract that says he needs to sign another one.

if we finished 5th last season and were close to 4th i think he would have stayed but we didnt and we dont look like we will this season.

Can't say I'm too bothered to see him go, as we could see this one coming for a long time now. I appreciate, the effort he put in for us, but to be honest, I never seen him in the same way, as I view players like Cahill, Jagielka, Arteta and Baines. Think they honestly have (developed) an affection for Everton, as for Pienaar, it has always been more a case of playing for his employer. So, thankfull for the time he spend with us, as he always gave his all when pulling on that blue shirt.

So good luck Pienaar, but remember, the grass isn't always greener on the other side. Just hope Everton will step it up a gear in the next week and the mood of this place will be lifted a bit, with the confirmation of some incoming transfers.

*Prays for Eljerio Elia.*

Well said DT.

Although mentioning Elia should be a red card offence!!
