Rom was scoring around 20 a season mate and was in the running for the golden boot, hardly the same was it? Scored for us against arse, RS, Spurs, city, Chelsea as used to score against the lesser team to.

Yeah he was a machine against the top 6 wasnt he.....

That's half the problem.... back in the late 80's fans were able to see through the likes of Cottee and understand that we never actually replaced the fading sharpe which was the issue. ... but yep... you carry on playing football top trumps

Jo scored 5 goals for Brazil. Whilst playing for the biggest clubs in Brazil. Madar scored for France... whilst playing for PSG, Monaco and a fantastic Deportivo side.

DCL is a 1 in 7 striker for Everton... a 1 in 4 for Northampton and a 1 in 1 for Staylibridge Celtic.

Seems to be a theme there...

Spencer scored 36 prem goals for Chelsea.. Johnston 10 in 34 games for Everton. Do the [Poor language removed] maths

I agree regarding the set pieces. What has done has been more due to volume than quality. For me transitioning to a true 433 should be a priority.

Forget that.... let's concentrate onnslating a developing kid who cost £1m

We have not replaced Lukaku as yet - our whole budget would have to go on a striker who probably wants champions league football anyway - not happening - we have signed Tosun for 27 million , and he is very poor.......
we need to look in the bargain basement as the rest of the team is under review loan players may return back leaving our squad very average.... and older players need moving on etc etc....... we need maybe five players a striker is one of them yet we don't want another Tosun.........

A striker? DCL is a striker isn't he? So all the players I listed scored more goals than him whilst playing for better teams than us currently

Yes a striker...... did you ever watch Peter Beardsley? Do you understand that Firminho has never scored more than 15 goals? Could it be that some of us can see that DCL offers us things we haven't had from any striker since the days of Ferguson???

Kevin Nolan scored only 15 more goals in his career than Roy Keane despite playing in the Championship and the old First Division for several seasons. Plus one of them was an attacking midfielder. A pretty poor comparison really.
